CURRICULUM VITAE
Gwen.Bengtsson@gmail.com ♦ tel 070 251 70 98
I recently moved from my home country of the United States after my husband and I decided that we wanted to
relocate to his home country of Sweden. We have an apartment and I am looking for a (preferably) permanent
position with a good company in the Stockholm/surrounding area. I am currently learning Swedish (my third foreign
language). In recent years I have performed the a combination role of Project Engineer (Projektledare), Designer,
and Drafter (Projektör). This was because I have 9 years of civil engineering experience and was recently working in
small offices that required both management and design work from all staff. While working at large companies, I
have worked on projects located in many of the different States within the US, and so I am accustomed to adjusting
design and management approaches to suit the requirements and formats of different governments and communities.
Since graduating from university, I have purposefully diversified my work experience while also specializing in a few
key areas of primarily stormwater management, land development and infrastructure improvements. After working
the required years and obtaining approval to take the exam, I was able to obtain my Professional Engineer (PE)
license; permitting me to have the responsibility of signing my name to design plans and reports prior to beginning
construction. My previous job responsibilities consists of work in several areas of land and infrastructure
development, including preparing designs and permitting applications for municipal/state/federal approval, LEED
certification, interacting with clients and public officials directly, presenting proposed designs to both government
officials and the public, participate in construction meetings, mentor younger engineers, prepare proposals for
obtaining projects, attend and also put together industry education and networking events, assist in monitoring budgets
through the project phases, and both actively drafting and contributing to AutoCAD C3D standards for the company.
My personal background is a diverse experience as I have relocated my life twice before. During my teenage years
my father’s career moved our family from the center of the US (to first Texas and then) to Connecticut just north of
New York City. After moving to Connecticut I was able to gain acceptance to the notably ranked engineering
program at the University of Connecticut, from which I graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering. My interests include kayaking, skiing, fishing, oil painting, hiking, and gardening. Now that we live in
Sweden, I look forward to taking up cross country skiing.
