The Honors Program
February 18, 2016
To Whom It May Concern:
Guerbrea Fort was a student at Santa Fe College from Summer 2014 through Fall 2015. I first met Guerbrea in
Spring 2015, when she was admitted to the Honors Program at Santa Fe College. Students are admitted to the
Program on the basis of their academic record, recommendations from faculty, and evidence of strong College-
level writing and critical thinking skills. During her three semesters in the Honors Program, she completed four
Honors-level courses, earning an A in each. In addition to their subject matter, Honors courses focus on critical
thinking and communications (both written and oral) skills; by virtue of completing the requirements of these
courses, Guerbrea’s ability to express herself in writing and in speech as well as her ability to analyze and
synthesize concepts and to form and support an argument improved.
Guerbrea was also an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honors Society of the two-year college.
Her most significant endeavor as a PTK member was providing leadership for our Spring 2015 Relay for Life team.
She and other students planned and held fund raising events, recruited walkers, and executed the PTK comfort /
entertainment station for the day-long walk.
I am confident that Guerbrea will be an asset for any organization she chooses to join, and that she will find
success in her chosen profession.
