Dr. Wayne Melville letter of recommendation
1. Letter of Recommendation for Dr. Wayne Melville
It is the highest privilege to write this letter of endorsement for Dr. Wayne Melville. I have known Wayne
since September 2010, when he became my teacher for the Curriculum and Instruction in General Science
(Intermediate/Senior) class at Lakehead University. This experience provided me with knowledge of his
character to be able to recommend, with confidence, Wayne’s application for Merit.
There is a determination and desire in Wayne to excel in the teaching profession. Wayne’s greatest attribute
is his selflessness. He constantly betters himself as a teacher. He places his students’ success as the top
priority; he would always ask for our feedback and would reiterate that he would always be there for us, not
only as students, but as professional educators. Student feedback placed Wayne unanimously as the most
valued and respected teacher amongst students in regards to his ability to go above and beyond the daily
lectures to ensure that every student would be successful in the pursuits inside, and outside of the classroom.
In my teaching and career development, I owe Wayne a great deal of recognition and thanks. I am currently
employed by Alberta Health Services as a Research Assistant for Cancer Control Alberta and as a
Biomechanics Instructor at Mount Royal University, Faculty of Continuing Education & Extension. From
2011-2013, I served as a substitute teacher and kinesiologist in my hometown of Fort Frances,
Ontario. Wayne has written me letters of recommendation for these positions. He also serves as one of my
contact references.
Wayne’s commitment to student success was never more exemplified than through my Mount Royal
University teaching experience. I enrolled at Lakehead with the expectation of maybe teaching high school
one day; teaching university never crossed my mind. When the Mount Royal opportunity came up in 2013, I
immediately emailed Wayne in excitement. For my interview, I had to do a 20 minute presentation, as if I
were teaching a class. Wayne guided me through my presentation package. I credit Wayne for helping me
achieve this success. My experience teaching the biomechanics class was not an instant success; my first class
did not go exactly according to plan, and again I turned to Wayne through email for guidance and
wisdom. Wayne immediately responded and told me the conversation was better suited over the phone. This
was one of the toughest periods of my lifewith stress and confusion. Wayne was always there to help and
guide me through difficult experiences. He helped turn a negative into a positive, by creating one of the best
experiences of my life, and helping me grow as a teacher, a professional and more importantly, as an
individual.
Wayne has undoubtedly been the most influential person in my career, especially as an educator. Without
Wayne, there is no way I would be where I am today professionally. Wayne went above and beyond the call
of duty as teacher to see that I became successful in multiple facets of life. I can’t imagine the number of
students, past and present, who have, and will be, telling similar stories. I strongly advise you to thoughtfully
consider Dr. Wayne Melville’s application for Merit. I will continue to call on Wayne as a mentor and teacher,
and can say with no false pretense that I consider him to be the most influential and valuable individual I have
been privileged to work with. It has been an honor to be able to write this letter of endorsement for Dr.
Wayne Melville.
Yours Faithfully,
