4. Social Groups
Who?
Teenage Girls
How?
All images I have taken throughout connotes an
innocent, happy social group. It represents
teenage girls in a positive way by doing
something productive with their lives.
E.g. successful music artist.
My representation of teenage girls is dominant to
the whole market.
5. Social Groups
The clothing used in the images is stereotypical
of those interested in the pop genre. Its glittery
and colourful.
Light make-up has been used on the model to
show the dominant representation of young
teenage girls.
The title “Lolli Pop” connotes a sweet and
therefore a young target audience.
6. Readings
Preferred reading
Most people want to think that all young girls or
young people are innocent and happy. However
we know this isn't the case.
Oppositional reading
Having a successful and productive career at the
age of 16 is an unrealistic view of teenage girls.
7. Readings
Negotiate reading
They would say that some teenage girls are doing
something productive with their life's.
However, some girls or youth are in gangs
causing conflict and crime – this is the view that
we have either experienced or have heard about
in main stream media.
My magazine is challenging the representation of
crime, through one girl with a successful career.
