Share, Care, Value – it’s LIFE

My dream is that each and every person deserves the right to enjoy LIFE. So to make a
website portal that helps the poor as well as rich in the medical field.

About the Idea :-

The plan is divided into 3 parts –

   (i) Making the information about the availability of medicines at online portal,
that means let say you have a medicine prescribed by the doctor and it isn’t
available at your locality. So you have to go to market to search from where you
can get the medicine. But if we put the information about medicines onto a main
website from where anybody whosoever needs the information about where the
drug or medicine is available nearest to you can go to them or the medicine store
          may deliver at your doorstep.
So anybody who has an internet connection can get the required information and
those who don’t specially the lower strata people can actually message from their
mobile and they can receive the required information (this is similar to what
google does if you message them to get information).

(ii) Making the information available about the hospitals and what medical
operations they are providing of both private and government hospitals. Many
times the patients reach the hospital and they don’t have some facility which is
required for the patient. I myself know what it takes to get things done moving in
government hospitals. I would like to give you my real life example – I wanted a
medical done from government hospital as required for the job but when I reached
a hospital I thought there would be a central desk which will guide me but let
alone guide there was no one who knew where these thing are done. So after
moving from here and there and asking everyone for almost close to 2 hrs I
decided let’s quit it’s enough and this is a famed government hospital. So I know
that there is no information regarding anything and what would have been going
with lakhs of people who come there for medical treatment.

To get the information about everything what facilities the hospitals provide
and what are they entitled to serve (government hospital) will need time and
energy to gather the data and this would be the biggest challenge. On a ground
level we can also rank the hospitals on some parameters which would help the
people. Even in future we can provide information regarding when your date
for the operation like in AIIMS will come up.
(iii) To make use of the best available technology present today which can help a
needy somewhere where there is no electricity. My focus is on to provide the
information so that we can educate the people about their health because most in
India still don’t know that some diseases are preventable and curable. This is
being divided into 2 parts :-

           a. Newborn Child Care – We have a very high infant mortality rate in the
world. The 2nd fastest growing economy in the world and when it comes to
mortality rate we are ranked behind even Bangladesh. So there must be a
medium for the information to reach to the people who need it most. We can
make what minimum boosters a child needs and till when. We also can join
with NGO’s and other social services into health care which can help them to
educate about child health care through us. Even with the available technology
we can let them register with us and provide them information when the child
              needs which dose and boosters.

           b. Mother /Women Care – Females are the most neglected in health care. For a
healthy child you need to be healthy but mostly that’s not the case. We can
educate them through videos, giving seminars etc. With the help of NGO’s we
can impart a greater impact into the lives of millions of people who live under
              the shadow of poverty.

           c. Sharing Information – “prevention is better than cure” but you can prevent
only if you have the information about it. There are many diseases which can
be cured through homemade medicine like for cough, about some diseases
which can be prevented are our eating habits etc. We have the highest
diabetics people in world, it’s because of our wrong eating style, even cancer
is curable today which at some point was the dreaded disease. So all this
shows there is lack of information in our system.

Language is the basic problem but not in case of connecting with your audience in their local
language , so the website will be available in most spoken languages of India. We would like
to involve many other things in future for the betterment of society.

How 1.5 Lakh will help me – As the website would be containing very much information it
would need a server to maintain it. I would be starting the plan in parts. First would be to get
the information about the medicines then going forward simultaneously with providing child
health care at a local level and then grow from there to other parts. With money comes
resources and with resources comes growth and a promise to make a India a better place.

                                                                               Avneet Bhulania
                                                                                 2012-14 batch
                                                                                  IIFT Kolkata
