15. Splashbacks and upstands
add seamless functionality
and style to your kitchen
Splashbacks and upstands are both easy to install and
hygienic. Providing smooth, clean lines between walls
and worksurfaces, these simple additions to a kitchen
offer a stylish alternative to tiles without the need for
unsightly grout lines.
Laminate Splashbacks and Upstands
Matching laminate splashbacks and upstands are available
for all Spectra designs so that you can precisely colour
match and coordinate with your Spectra worksurface.
Adding matching splashbacks and upstands to gloss
worksurfaces mirrors the light reflections and gives an
extra sparkle.
Splashbacks and upstands also prolong the life of your
worksurface as they protect against water exposure at
the back edge of the worksurface.

17. Brilliant design and
materials guaranteed
Spectra worksurfaces are manufactured to the rigorous
standards of BS/EN4965 using the highest quality
materials. This ensures the best heat, moisture and
impact resistance. Above all, Spectra worksurfaces are
hygienic and ideal for food preparation.
The BS/EN438 laminate surface is bonded to EN312/2003
E1 high density particle board to form a 6mm radius
profile on all leading long edges. This not only looks great but
also protects the worksurface from exposure to moisture with
a polyurethane drip barrier. The front and rear edges are also
tightly sealed to give extra protection from water and steam.
Each Spectra worksurface is supplied with a heavy duty
polythene wrapping. The high gloss designs also have
protective foils applied to the laminate surface which are
removed during the installation process. At no extra
cost, each Spectra worksurface is supplied with a loose
laminate edge for your installer to apply to the edges
of your worksurface.
The Spectra range of kitchen worksurfaces has achieved
the ultimate mark of product quality – the FIRA Gold
Award. Assessed by the Furniture Industry Research
Association, the Gold Award gives customers the
reassurance that Spectra worksurfaces have been
manufactured to the highest possible standards.

19. DISTINCTIVE WORKSURFACES
Care and maintenance
Laminate worksurfaces
are easy to care for
Laminate worksurfaces do not demand time consuming,
regular maintenance. Your Spectra worksurface will
continue to look good for years to come, provided you
follow a few basic guidelines:
I
Worksurfaces should always be protected from hot
pans by the use of hob bars or trivets.
I
Never chop food directly onto a worksurface, always
use a chopping board.
I
All spills should be mopped up immediately.
I
To keep your worksurface looking its best, wipe it
regularly with a damp cloth and buff with a lint-free
cloth to remove water marks.
I
To remove everyday stains wipe with a damp cloth and
a mild, non-abrasive, surface cleaner.
I
To remove more stubborn marks allow the detergent to
soak on the surface for several minutes before rinsing
thoroughly with clean water.
I
Spectra’s strong inner core means your worksurface
will withstand most knocks and bumps, but avoid
placing extremely heavy items or standing on your
worksurface.
For further maintenance advice, please refer to the
maintenance guide supplied with each worksurface.

Spectra worksurfaces are both environmentally responsible
and have excellent product recycling characteristics.
The use of Spectra’s amazingly realistic wood grain effects
