Editor's Notes

  1. Improve the product based on customer expectations. Put the branding and visual design in sync with the ergonomics.
  2. Better products sell more. A cumbersome and unpredictable sales prevents sales. A more usable checkout process reduces attrition. Visa ads with the cheque vs card payment.
  3. Improve the efficiency of your collaborators and clients. Decrease user acclimation time and errors.
  4. Reduce costs by including user needs early in the design. Avoid outstanding mistakes.
  5. Expensive. Lengthy.
  6. Efficient and fast. Not deep and relevant enough.
  7. Roll out multiple versions on a limited subset of the user base. Quantify the use and success of each version.
  8. Everyone is a lab rat. EVERYONE. “Show me!” Ask for the harsh critique.
  9. Some of the things that are obvious once explained may be very unintuitive.
  10. Find the problems that will occur every time the user tries the product. They make you look unprofessional.
