3. TERMS:
Family: A group of individuals who are intimately related; often
living under one roof.
Family Tree: A chart showing the history or line of descent of
members of a family , past and present.
Origin: the beginning of a family.
Ancestry: one’s family or ethnic descent.
Kinship: Blood relationship
Union: the joining of members together
Marriage: the formal union of a man or woman typically
recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife.
Divorce: the legal ending of a marriage.
4. Tradition: the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation
to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way.

6. TYPES OF FAMILIES
Nuclear Family- A mother, father, and their children living under
the same roof.
Extended Family- A mother, father, children, grandparents and
Aunts and Uncles living under the same roof.
Sibling household- When both parents are absent from home so
the oldest brother or sister take care of their younger sibling at home.
Single Parent Family- Only one parent ( mother or father ) living
with his/her children in the home.
Blended Family- Children from your previous marriage living in
the new marriage you are in.
7. FUNCTIONS OF THE
FAMILY:
Socialization- the process where by your parents teaches you
acceptable behavior so you can fit into your society.
Reproduction/Procreation/Biological- this is a process where by your
parents have sexual course under the umbrella of marriage. Resulting
from this process, reproduction takes place a new generation being made.
Cultural Transmission- is a process where by your
parents/grandparents teaches you about passed traditions, customs,
religion, foke ways and etc.
Economic- a process where your parents provide food, clothing and
shelter.
Love/Emotion- where by your parents show love and affection to you.
