What is backup
● Backup is a feature to save router configuration to a file
● Restore is a process to configure the router based on backup file
● Very useful in
○ emergency situation
○ Provisioning many devices

Backup type
Full backup
● Binary format
● Extention: .backup
● Can put password / encrypted
● Cannot be edited by text editor
● Can save credentials (username and
password)
Partial backup
● Text format, plain text
● Extension: .rsc
● No option to put password
● Can be edited using text editor
● Credentials is not saved (due to security
reasons, plain text)
