“I
gniting the Torch: Engineering in Action” was
the common theme of NSBE’s six, exciting Fall
Regional Conferences, held across the U.S. in
October and November 2007. The agenda
for each conference included activities and events that al-
lowed members to develop personally, professionally and
academically.
The conferences were held in Marlborough, Mass. (Region
I), Arlington, Va. (Region II), Jackson, Miss. (Region III),
Madison, Wis. (Region IV), Baton
Rouge, La. (Region V) and Redmond,
Wash. (Region VI). Among the
many highlights was an address by
Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft
Corporation, and the announce-
ment of a huge software gift from
Microsoft to NSBE members, at the
Region VI conference. The Region
II FRC introduced its KidZone
Conference for elementary school
students, an event that was designed
to get students too young for NSBE
Jr. interested in science, technology,
engineering and math (STEM).
As always, the Fall Regional Conferences included a
big build-up to the competitions to be held at the Annual
National Convention. The winners of the regional Try-Math-
A-Lon, Engineering Design Competition and PCI Science
Fair will compete for national honors at the Orange County
Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

The agenda for each conference included activities and events that al- lowed members to develop personally, professionally and academically. The conferences were held in Marlborough, Mass. (Region I), Arlington, Va. (Region II), Jackson, Miss. (Region III), Madison, Wis. (Region IV), Baton Rouge, La. (Region V) and Redmond, Wash. (Region VI).
