1. Dear Sir or Madam:
I was asked to prepare a recommendation letter for Ms. Fran Goundry as a professional and
personal reference for employment at your school.
I have known Ms. Goundry for a number of years. We worked together in the early 1990’s, at
The Honor Roll School, in Sugarland, TX, where she served as the Principal for the pre-school
and elementary levels. As the school Librarian, I worked closely with Ms. Goundry and
observed her leadership and communication style, as well as her outreach successes with the
students and parents.
During the time we worked together, I developed the highest regard for Ms. Goundry’s:
professional standards, work ethic, concern for the students and staff as well as her ethical
behavior.
Under her leadership, school enrollment flourished and parent outreach and involvement
developed to a new level. Ms. Goundry’s inclusive leadership style, involves the children, staff
and parents, and also makes being part of the school fun. Her fund raising efforts were met a
great deal of success, and parent’s stated that it felt good to be included in the school.
She was responsible for establishing the school’s accreditation level which included bringing in
new personnel as well as holding teachers and staff to the highest performance level. Ms.
Goundry duties included budgeting, curriculum development and staff management.
No matter how busy Ms. Goundry was with her management duties, she always made time for
our students demonstrating care, compassion and fairness in handling their important issues. Ms.
Goundry encouraged hearing from parents, staff and students to make The Honor Roll School
experiences as enriching and personally enjoyable as possible.
After my leaving The Honor Roll School, our friendship has continued, to include families.
Ms. Fran Goundry would be an asset to any organization. Her personal and professional
qualities are top notch. Your school would be well served having her.
Sincerely,
Barbara Trotter
