The document discusses the skills and influences relevant to the student's upcoming horror film project. It outlines their creativity in storytelling, time management, and editing skills in Premiere Pro as assets. Research skills are identified as an area for improvement. Key influences discussed are Stephen King for combining horror and mystery, a lifelong passion for film developed from internet access, and Christopher Lee as the epitome of an intimidating villain.
3. Skills Audit
One of the skills that I have that can help me in this project would be my creativity and ability to
come up with stories. I believe I've demonstrated these skills before when creating both my audio
project and my poster design. This combined with my time management means that I can come
up with a solid idea and have it all planned out on time during the pre-production phase of the
project. In terms of production skills, my ability to edit in premiere pro have been proven prior in
tasks such as the music video and the original horror story. The editing of both video and audio
sets me up with the skills to make a project more refined than the last two before this. The
camera work we did regarding the music video is also critical as without these skills my video
would look poor and tacky. The thing I have to improve on the most is my research skills. While
most of the research I've done is satisfactory I feel I can improve by making it more detailed and
more related to the current project.
7. Mood Board Analysis
How does your mood board inspire your project?
My mood board inspires my project by combining all the aspects of a horror film into multiple
boards. The first board shows the current themes in horror and the use of VFX and character
editing to create fear. The second board shows classic horror and how it influenced modern
horror with writers such as Stephen King. And finally, My board is the images I've found on the
internet that id like to feature as a part of my project.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board is a general overlook on the current idea I have surrounding my project. This idea
is based around a killer chasing people into the woods to an abandoned house. I believe that my
mood board demonstrates this clearly and can outline my general idea. As for the other two, the
themes repeated in both and the techniques used are common techniques to create tension and
to make an audience scared. The tension and fear factor are techniques that I want to revolve my
whole project around.
8. Key Influences
(Stephen King)
Stephen king is an American author of horror,
supernatural fiction, suspense, crime, sci-fi and
fantasy novels. He is most known for his writing
of horror books such as IT, Pet Sematary, The
Shining and many more. Because of this he has
been crowned as the “Master of Horror”.
Stephen King books have influenced my work
in rather specific ways. The modern outlook on
horror stories was basically made by Stephen
King and his ability to write horror in normal
settings. For example, he can make horror
present in perfectly normal neighbourhoods
which have been normal for years. His use of
combining horror with mystery is something id
like to mimic in my short story as I believe it
adds deeper meaning and engages the watcher
more to think more about the film.
9. Key Influences
(The Internet)
From a young age I've always loved watching and
creating video and film. Weather that be making
funny videos with props or actually sitting down
and watching things on my own or with other
people. I've grown up around the internet and
having all of these things to watch at my finger tips.
Horror movies are more something recent that I've
found a passion for as the thrill is something you
cant really get from a genre like sci-fi or comedy.
Watching movies from a young age will influence
my project a lot due to the amount of films I've
seen. I have the experience to understand what
makes a good film and what makes a bad one.
Hopefully this knowledge will transfer across to
shooting mine and I can create a high quality video.
10. Key Influences
(Christopher lee)
• Christopher Lee is a very highly known and
successful actor known for his wide range of
features in films spanning across over 7
decades. His ability to play the antagonist is
one of his most known features and his
confidence and aura is something id like to
replicate for the main antagonist in my short
film. Lee has been in a wide range of classic
horror movies in his time such as, Dracula,
Sleepy Hollow, The skull and many more (all
of which he played the villain). As mentioned
in the previous slide, I’ve grown up watching
movies my whole life and one of my favourite
characters ever in Count Dooku played by
Christopher Lee. His role as a villain is world
renowned and when his intimidating voice is
matched with his body language it creates a
perfect balance for the stereotypical villain.

Useful skills for this project
Improvements for the project
Collection of images related to your product/inspirational/visually interesting
At least 15 needed. These should not just be just existing products. Anything and everything that inspires this project should be here.
Make the theme obvious – make it clear what you’re trying to get across
Use a combination of images sizes – or build around a larger central image
Incorporate text
Look beyond the internet – use books, your own photos, etc
Be a curator – create links between the content, the ‘thread’ will make it easier to understand
Make more than one! If you want to examine different themes or cover different aspects of the possible outcomes of your project, create multiple boards to convey you thoughts and intentions
