Faurecia to build new automotive seating plant in Yancheng (Jiangsu,
China)
Faurecia announces today the signing of a project investment agreement with the Yancheng
Economic and Technology Development Zone in Yancheng (Jiangsu, China) in order to
further develop its seat mechanisms activities –where it holds the #1 position worldwide– in
China and export markets.
Under the terms of the agreement, Faurecia will build a new automotive seating plant in the
Yancheng Economic and Technology Development Zone to manufacture seat mechanisms.
Faurecia expects to invest USD 42 million (EUR 30 million) and plans to manufacture up to 4
million seat mechanism sets per year. The construction of the new Faurecia plant will start
by the end of 2011 and will cover some 22,000 sqm. Full production levels shall be reached
by the summer of 2013.
Faurecia and the Yancheng Economic and Technology Development Zone have formalized
the agreement during a signing ceremony in Yancheng on July 7, 2011 in presence of Wang
Lianchun, Director of the Yancheng Economic and Technology Development Zone, Jean-
Michel Vallin, President of Faurecia (China) Holding and Yann Delabrière, Chairman and CEO
of Faurecia Group.
The city of Yancheng is an important growth region for automotive production in China, with
the presence of Dongfeng Yueda Kia (DYK), a joint venture of Kia, China’s Dongfeng
Automotive Group and Yueda, first established in 2002, which produced some 200,000
vehicles during the first half of 2011.
China is a strategic area for the development of Faurecia. The Group is currently present
through 25 plants and four R&D centers, with some 6,000 employees. It achieved 2010 sales
of EUR 1,023 million and targets EUR 2.5 billion sales in China in 2015.
