The document discusses the passive voice in English and Spanish. The passive voice is formed using the verb "to be" plus the past participle of the main verb. In the passive voice, the subject receives the action rather than performs it. Some examples are provided to illustrate how sentences are transformed from the active to the passive voice by changing the subject and adding "by". The last section provides 5 sentences in the active voice and their transformations to the passive voice.
2. GENERAL RULES
1.The passive voice is formed with the verb TO
BE conjugated plus participle of the main verb.
English is much more frequent than in Spanish
and usually appears when it is not important who
performs an action but the fact itself.
2.The acting subject is expressed BY. However, in
most cases the subject is omitted because we are
not interested to know who exactly performs the
action
If an active sentence has direct and indirect
object, either supplements may be subject to the
passive patient.
