VISTA Project Goals
1. Manage CPC projects in
targeted communities in order to
result in increased capacity for
educational partners and
institutions in those communities.
2. Build capacity within RWU to
support community projects that
meet the overall project goals.
3. Promote the available services,
skills, and capacities of the RWU
CPC to potential partner
organizations, institutions,
community leaders and other key
social connectors in targeted
communities in order to catalyze
new projects that serve the project
goal.
Capacity Building Success
Campus Capacity Building and Outreach
*Partnered with, maintained, and developed a
sustainable communication pipeline with the RWU
School of Education to further expand project goals.
*Maintained connections with RWU faculty in regards to
CPC services.
*Represented the CPC at campus events.
Current Partner Capacity Building Outreach
*Expanding outreach with current EDC based
Community Partners.
*Leading documentation efforts of projects and
created shared templates/charts utilized by CPC staff
to maintain a sustained organized process.
New Potential Community Partners
*Lead efforts to find new partners with education based
project ideas and applications and shared all
information with the SED 6 potential partners to date;
Projects picked up by faculty will increase CPC
project capacity for the coming academic year(s).
*Created an organizational tracking chart of potential
partner leads used by all CPC staff members that can
be used for future projects.
Student Development
Professional Development Workshops
*Created and led professional development
workshops for CPC Student Staff. All workshops
saved for future use by VISTA/CPC staff.
The Roger Williams University (RWU) Community
Partnerships Center (CPC) provides project
based assistance to nonprofit organizations,
municipalities, government agencies and low and
moderate income communities in Rhode Island
and Southeastern Massachusetts. Our mission is
to undertake and complete projects that will
benefit the local community, while providing RWU
students with experience in realworld projects
that deepen their academic experiences.
