Why I chose UTC.
Because I wanted to do something meaningful with my life. My values
and goals aligned with UTC’s and I knew right away at my initial
interview that we shared a common sense of purpose.
How UTC helps me become an effective urban teacher.
UTC understands that the single most significant factor that
determines student success is teacher quality, so I knew that I was
going to be getting the most innovative, research-driven teacher
training available.
How UTC is different from other teacher preparation
programs.
They have always had my back! Although UTC’s name and numbers
continue to grow every year, I know that I can still reach out to all
of the staff and they will put full effort into assisting me. Also, a full
residency year is a huge benefit. I have seen many first year teachers
from traditional programs or other alternative training programs
with extremely short summer training sessions struggle through their
entire first year. Luckily, I felt extremely prepared going into my first
year due to my UTC Residency year.
Previous experiences that prepared me for teaching.
My residency year with UTC!
Thinking about becoming a teacher?
Go with your gut. If you have a gut feeling that you need to be in a field
that is challenging, rewarding, meaningful, and life-changing, then I
encourage you to reach out to someone at UTC.
How I lead a fun, full life while managing the rigors of UTC.
Two words: joy and rigor. Teaching is hard. Really, really hard. But
there is no better or more meaningful work. I love my job. And the
best thing about it is that every year, you get better and better...and
you learn to work smarter, not harder.
