3. Design principles
The JLA CryoTec series is designed specifically for the liquid gas market.
With our 30+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, we have composed
clear design principles for all our products, and especially our CryoTec series.
We focus on three major principles: safety, reliability and quality.
Quality
The loading arm industry can be very complex. Our
clients are constantly dealing with the loading and
unloading of their products, different docks, demurrage
etc. A reliable partner that delivers quality products is
therefore essential.
In our Flow Academy we train our engineers and
cutomers the ins-and-outs of the loading technology,
the science behind designing an innovative product
and the reasons we hold such high standards.
This has resulted in our marine loading arm series. Our
revolutionary cable free designs are an example of our
knowledge and understanding of the industry.
All our products are designed in our in-house R&D
department so that we can ensure the quality of our
products.
Safety
Safety is the most important aspect of all in Loading
Arms, in particular Marine Loading Arms. Dealing with
large LNG tankers, extremely cold highly flamable
contents, pressure surge etc. can be very dangerous.
At JLA we always make sure our products meet - and
often exceed - the international safety standards.
Working with extreme temperatures bring its own set
of challenges. LNG and LPG are extremely cold and
cause the piping to completely be covered with a thick
layer of ice.
Safety is something we don’t take lightly. Our products
are tested in our own testing facilities for an equivelant
of minimal 30 years of daily operation.
Reliability
We have 30+ years of experience in the engineering
and maintenance of marine loading arms and 60+
years of experience in the petrochemical industry.
This experience is fully used to assure the reliability
of all our products. We have made sure maintenance
is safe, easy and quick. For example, our composite
bearings don’t need any lubrication. This prolongs the
usability of our products and lowers the total cost of
ownership drastically.
Because of this. our company has quickly grown to
become one of the leaders in the loading arm industry.

4. Pressure surge
Critical components such as swivel joints
are designed and tested for 300# systems.
Safety integrity level
SIL is defined as a relative level of
risk-reduction provided by the safety
components. JLA can deliver the critical
components of the CryoTec series as SIL1,
SIL2 or SIL3.

Graphical representation that shows how loading
arms are connected. Also the status of the
hydraulic and electric systems.

Safety
The oil & gas industry does not accept dangerous
situations. Safety while loading and unloading extremely
cold contents can be one of the most hazerdous activities
of an operator.
We have made sure our products provide safety and
comfort for our clients.
Working with extreme low temperature can
cause the piping of the loading arm to be
covered with a thick layer of ice. The operator
often works and walks under these dynamic
moving pipes. This can be very dangerous
when the ice slowely starts to fall off.
Our ice fall off protection makes sure all parts
of the ice are caught in a special net that
surrounds the piping, ensuring the safety of the
operator. We believe that this feature is a must
when working with liquid gasses and other
cold products.
Our Cryotec arms operate at a temperature of -168 degrees.

SIGTTO
Choice of either a support jack or a spring balanced
TSA to support the lower section of the ERS after an
emergency break.
Our emergency release system (ERS) is designed
with the minimal trapped volume between the two
ERS valves.
Two hydraulic slewing drives just above the ERS
to rotate the triple swivel assembly for easy and
ergonomic alignment to the ship manifold.
No heavy manual labour to align loading arm

30 minutes fire proofing by special coating, modified
cylinder seal configuration and fireproof hoses.
To prevent unintended openings and to ensure
maximal safety, the JLA CryoTex series include
an Interlock system. The ERC has to be armed
mannualy and an optional extra key can be included
to operate the arms.

This feature is originated in offshore and is proven
to be durable, has a good isolation and low friction,
even though it uses no lubrication.

7. Ergonomics
Easy accessibility and intuitive controls.
Cable free design
Our marine loading arms use absolutely no cables and are
therefore more practical, safe and durable.
Supported arms
Extreme temperature differences cause expansion and
shrinkage of the arms. The CryoTec loading arms are
completely supported to ensure safety and durability.
Quality
Nitrogin dried ball races
Nitrogen is purged through all 6 swivel joints throughout the
loading arm and monitored via an visual flow indicator.
The swivel joints are protected from moisture.Working
with extreme cold temperatures, any moisture can become
a blockade in the movement of the loading arm.
