2. How does your
product use or
challenge
conventions
and how does
it represent
social groups
or issues?
Although superheroes are often thought of as being male, the
“superheroes” in our movie were female. The girls played this
powerful role instead of the common role girls would usually play
like a housewife, maid, or simply just the mother in other films. In
the Ladies of Justice introductions, the girls are presented with
savagery that would be needed to be crime-fighting heroes.
However, other scenes also showed the femininity that most
would automatically think of when they think of schoolgirls. Our
movie questions the frequent idea of how girls should act and
what their career could be.
3. How does your
product
engage
audiences and
how would it
be distributed
as a real media
text?
Our movie begins with a reference to something that has
previously happened. This immediately draws the viewer in by
allowing their imagination to think of the situation prior to the first
scene. Also, the unexpected call from the Ladies of Justice’s boss
interests the viewer enough to want to keep watching. Our jump
from regular schoolgirls to crime-fighters in the scene with the
intense music over it also adds curiosity to see how the girls will
take out the opponent. Then, the ending of our movie ends on a
cliff-hanger, keeping the viewer guessing about what will occur
next. Our product would be distributed through all forms of film
including CDs, DVDs, in theaters, and digitally online. This way,
almost anyone would be able to watch the movie and receive the
message meant to be shared.
4. How did your
production
skills develop
throughout
this project?
Our production skills grew greatly over the project. In the
beginning of shooting the scenes, we used common shots like
over-the-shoulder and POV, but later we started using cool shots
and transitions that really enhanced the movie. For example, the
transitions between each shot of each Lady of Justice, the
transition was not part of our plan at first, but our production skills
helped us to produce that. Also, in the beginning of the project, it
took us a while to know how to properly film and edit each scene,
but by the end we had mastered it and we could get what we
needed in no time.
5. How did you
integrate
technologies in
this project?
We used multiple forms of technology in this project. First, we
used my iPhone 13 to film all the shots. The quality of the camera
was great and was super easy to use. Second, we edited the movie
on iMovie on my MacBook. This was also fairly easy since most of
us knew how to maneuver iMovie very well.Third, we used a
website called Uppbeat for the copyright-free song we used in our
movie. We downloaded the song and imported it into our movie
which was also easy to do.
