The Brown County Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization that operates the only animal shelter in Brown County, Indiana. They accept all homeless cats and dogs in the county, help match pets with owners, and provide community programs like low-cost spay/neuter assistance. The shelter has greatly increased its save rate from 30% to 98% over the past 20 years while decreasing intake by 57%. They have also expanded national adoptions and partnered with local pet stores to increase adoptions. In the Community – S.P.O.T.
Provide low-cost spay/neuter assistance.
Provide temporary pet food assistance.
Deliver straw for outdoor pets.
Build fence enclosures to get dogs off of chains.
Educate and assist with trap-neuter-return for feral cats.
Provide education and outreach programs.
Host an annual low-cost rabies/vaccine clinic for the
county.

Grant received to provide education and
assistance regarding trap-neuter-return and to
assist with spay/neuter for community cats.
Grant received to mentor two nearby
communities setting up programs similar to
SPOT. First partner was Jackson County FLASH
