The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in Pisa, Italy and is 55.86 meters high. Construction began in 1173 and was not completed until 1370. The tower leans because the ground underneath is too soft. It has leaned as much as 4.5 meters but currently leans at a 3.9 degree angle or 4.1 meters. The tower serves as the bell tower for the cathedral and is one of the oldest structures in the city.
