6. ERIK SEES THE VALUE IN BUILDING
PEOPLE UP AND ALWAYS BEING KIND
My favorite Erik memory is bringing my youngest
son Kyle into the office for a minute while I was
off for the holidays last year. He bent down to
Kyle with a big smile and instead of the usual
pleasantries, he says, “Do you know how cool
your Dad is? You are so lucky to have him as your
Dad.” Kyle nodded and beamed with pride and
held my hand tight as we walked back to the
truck.”
That’s Erik in a nutshell for me. Always kind,
always helping us try to realize we are better than
we think we are and always building us up by
being kind and positive. He took a 10 second
interaction with my son and used it to build up
both myself and my son. And I’ll never forget
those types of interactions I had with him.
You will be missed Erik!

9. ERIK, YOU WILL BE MISSED
We are certainly and without doubt going to miss the man who
created and diligently shaped our team into what it has become
an SEO powerhouse, that each and every one of us can be
proud of ..!!!!! I’m super sad that the day for his departure is
almost upon us.
I’m going to miss our countless “Big Red” and “Cob Salad”, “BIG
BARRIDO” lunches as well as the infamous famous “Cuban
Sandwiches”, our countless discussions covering pretty much
every topic imaginable. I would be amiss if I were to exclude
everything Erik taught me about his Mexican culture, people,
music, geography, topography, history both deliciously yummy
good (cuisine) as well as the not so good.
Seeing an 18 wheeler driver reading a book while riding down
HWY I75 to the Sedan that tried to climb up a palm tree ..lol..
Seriously.
Together we pioneered the first USA Customs Clearance
website. Tackled Oxygen when all we could find was helium
bringing more laughter than either of us could have asked for.

10. WE RESPECT ERIK AND HIS WISE WORDS
I have attached an image of me and Erik at
the SMXEast conference we went to two
years ago. This was a work trip but it felt
like I was in NYC with my big
brother. Something that Erik told me once
years ago and I have never forgotten was
“Stay strong, be patient and remember that
God has a purpose for you.”

12. SECRET SEO HOUDINI POWERS,
FAVORITE MEMORIES, AND MORE
LEFT: Erik in Steve’s office using his SEO Houdini
powers to rank a new article on the first page of
Google.
Another favorite is when Erik and Steve were
“debating” about something regarding one of the
micro sites and Erik ended it by telling Steve that it’s
“cute” that he thinks he’s right. Steve still loves to
bring this up.

Erik is more than a great SEO;
he’s also a great leader and a
great friend. I carry so many Erik-
isms with me because of the
wisdom he’s shared over the past
few years.

15. BONDING, LEARNING,
AND APPRECIATION
Erik and I share a bond of having
roots in the west Texas border
community of El Paso, Texas and
Juarez, Mexico! He helped me
brush up on my Spanish and we
could always talk each other into
great lunches of Mexican food!
Great, full times!! LOL
I learned a lot from him over the
years; or shall I say understood
better to talk about it. His skills
still amaze me.
While I never got my full
serenade “Erik Chavez”, our mini
concerts were awesome!

17. SMART, HELPFUL, PATIENT
Erik helped me out in my early days on the team
and has continued to do so to this day. He is the
first person that I turn to when I hit a wall and he
is the first person that I go to with an interesting
idea or find. He is always willing to share
something he has learned. At the same time he is
always looking to learn something new. He is
smart, helpful, and patient. He will be missed.
