SPECIAL NEWS
 The advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims in
US for the week ending July 5, was 304,000, a decrease of
11,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 315,000,
US Department of Labor updates showed. The 4 week mov-
ing average was 311,500, a decrease of 3,500 from the pre-
vious week's unrevised average of 315,000
 The Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank Negara Ma-
laysia decided to raise the Overnight Policy Rate, or OPR,
by 25 basis points to 3.25 percent. The central bank raised
the key interest rate on Thursday, for the first time in more
than three years, citing the outlook for sustained growth as
exports are likely to benefit from improvements in the
global economy .
COMMODITY BUZZ
 The prices of MCX Copper are expected to squeeze yet
again in today's trades after the fall in Chinese imports
data. The metal has been trading with some gains in the
evening trades; however the same is expected to show
drawdown in the last trading session. .
 MCX Crude oil futures slipped from highs above Rs 6200
per barrel today but remained locked in a thin range, ex-
tending its recent pattern. Global crude oil prices eased
slightly amid a weak undertone in stock markets. How-
ever, losses were limited as traders eyed the weekly US
crude supplies data to be released later on tonight. WTI
Crude is quoting at $103.24 per barrel, down 16 cents per
barrel on the day. MCX Crude oil futures are trading at Rs
6184 per barrel, down Rs 5 per barrel on the day .
