The FBM KLCI index gained 7.22 points or 0.43% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.36% to
14064.79 points, the Properties Index up 0.72% to 1185.21 points and the Plantation Index down
0.08% to 7500.02 points. The market traded within a range of 16.18 points between an intra-day
high of 1674.98 and a low of 1658.80 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include KTC, SKPETROC19, COMCORP, INSTACO, RGB, XOX, SKPETRO,
MTRONIC, KNM and INSTACO-WB. Trading volume increased to 1908.83 mil shares worth
RM1715.85 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 1630.76 mil shares worth RM1634.98 mil.
Leading Movers were SKPETRO (+18 sen to RM1.99), PETDAG (+100 sen to RM25.00), ASTRO (+5
sen to RM2.71), DIGI (+7 sen to RM5.37) and IHH (+7 sen to RM6.47). Lagging Movers were KLCC (-
13 sen to RM7.02), PETCHEM (-4 sen to RM7.15), SIME (-4 sen to RM7.50), RHBCAP (-3 sen to
RM5.71) and IOICORP (-2 sen to RM4.28). Market breadth was positive with 493 gainers as com-
pared to 418 losers.
The KLCI remained in green territory after closing higher at 1670.73 points despite mixed perform-
ance in US market before Christmas Eve. The performance of our local bourse was mainly lifted by
buying interest in heavy weight counters such as SapuraKencana Petroleum and Astro.
