The FBM KLCI index gained 4.13 points or 0.25% on Monday. The Finance Index increased 0.42% to
14149.89 points, the Properties Index up 0.27% to 1194.87 points and the Plantation Index rose
0.38% to 7458.45 points. The market traded within a range of 7.37 points between an intra-day
high of 1675.96 and a low of 1668.59 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include XOX, INSTACO, RGB, GENETEC, UTOPIA, WINTONI, GPACKET, APFT,
HIBISCS and FRONTKN. Trading volume increased to 1788.25 mil shares worth RM1741.30 mil as
compared to Friday’s 1572.50 mil shares worth RM1597.07 mil.
Leading Movers were YTL (+3 sen to RM1.54), KLK (+40 sen to RM22.74), HLBANK (+18 sen to
RM12.98), PPB (+20 sen to RM15.60) and RHBCAP (+7 sen to RM6.07). Lagging Movers were BAT (-
84 sen to RM57.04), PETDAG (-26 sen to RM24.78), MAXIS (-5 sen to RM6.60), AMMB (-3 sen to
RM4.62) and WPRTS (-2 sen to RM4.16). Market breadth was positive with 460 gainers as compared
to 359 losers.
The KLCI closed higher at 1672.0 points amid gains in US market on last Friday following better than
expected US jobs data in November. The performance of our local bourse was lifted by buying inter-
est in heavy weight counters such as YTL Corporation, Hong Leong Bank and Sime Darby.
