Election in the Philippines is decided by Plurality Rule Electoral System
• In order for a candidate running for a position to secure it he or she
must have plurality of vote in his or her favor. Meaning the candidate
with the most votes wins.
• All post EDSA Philippine President are considered to be “minority
president”. For example Pres. Duterte won the election in 2016 after
receiving the highest number of vote despite not getting more than half
of the total votes.
