1. Framed review
In this film, we see Leon experience the hardships of life. After losing his daughter, to what we wait
anxiously until the end of the film to find out how and why, Leon goes on the run after finding out
that he is being framed for his daughter’s death.
In this struggle for survival, physically and mentally, we see the reality and brutality of which life
entails. This film is careful to remain a 12A with the acceptance from the BBFC, by only implying
things such as violence, anger, alcoholism etc but this adds to the complex storyline and it makes
you perceive the film the way you want to. However, this certificate holds back the film from being
anything more, although it shows the brutal ways some have to live, it only gives the viewer a moral
understanding whereas it could create such empathy for the character that the audience come out
feeling that they have experienced all of Leon’s emotions and hardships and thus confronting them
with the reality of life if it were to do more than just imply.
With all that said, the empathy for the character is still strong and you are able to engage with the
film by the excellent portrayal of a man lost in his own memories given by Jefforson Main but also
from the filming itself. The location shows a beautiful area but it is contrasted by Jefforson Main’s
character, Leon who highlights that the area is actually eerie and isolated from the rest of the world.
The cinematography used creates tension with the audience and Leon because you are made to
question Leon’s innocence in the story. The film raises so many enigma’s you lose count until the
end when it all the pieces come together and you are left a statue in your seat from the unexpected
twist.
This film meets all the requirements a brilliant thriller film should consist of and is a must see.
