Unit 21 pitch.

1. WHEN A PHONE RINGS
This is why you should never answer to unknown numbers
especially on October 31st, Halloween Night. you'll never know
who it is, what it is, where they are and why they are calling
you. Main protagonist Jev gets an unknown call and gets
awaken during his sleep, this person doesn’t know Jev but he
knows where he is and what his doing at all time.
This film has elements of The Ring within it with the whole
idea of someone coming out the TV and it has elements of
scream too where Ghostface calls the phone and plays
games with them. This film is similar to a slasher film
because of the killer being a type of person to stalk the
main protagonist and try to get them.

2. TREATMENT
At the beginning of this film you see the main protagonist
named Jev and his TV starts playing up and goes static he
sits down at a seat and tries to get comfortable he falls
asleep after a few minutes of sitting down, then the dream
sequence plays.
In the middle of this film Jev gets rudely awoken by a phone
call from an unknown number which leaves the film in
suspense and this leaves Jev on the edge because he gets
worried when he knows his friend isn’t on the phone to him.
In the end of this film Jev finds out the police is here to a rescue
and goes out of the room and tries to get outside but it may be
too late for him as the killer is right behind him with his murder
weapon then the screen goes black.
The runtime for this film will be a maximum of 5 minutes and
its horror.
This short film tries to get across that you can never really trust
an unknown number and give them details unless you know
them this could help keep people safe maybe.

3. CHARACTER BREAK DOWN
Jev is the main protagonist in this movie, he has a great set of skills and
wants to do what is best for himself because he lives alone and doesn’t have
many friends to focus on. The stereo type of this character is to be the last
survivor so a lone wolf and knows what his doing.
John is Jev’s best friend who doesn’t appear in the short film.
The killer in this short film is very typical because he isn’t hard to get away
from the only problem with the killer is trying to get away. This killer has has
past experience due to being in the asylum for killing people in the past.
The police in this film the police goes past jev’s house and realizes
something in the area is wrong this is because they notice a slashed throat in
the street.
The dream sequence creature is only within Jev’s dream this creature is very
similar to the ring it comes out the TV at Jev.

4. JEV
This is Jev. His good at running and he is
healthy.
He has good
strength.
He is a
survivor.

5. KILLER
This is the Killer.
He is evil and crazy.
He is the killer that stalks
people.
The killers murder
weapon is a kitchen
knife.

6. DREAM SEQUENCE
CREATURE
This is the dream
Sequence creature.
She comes out of
TV’s.
She is only within
the dream
sequence.
When people are
in dreams she can
cause them to
have a heart
attack.

7. PRE-PRODUCTION
I created a sizzle reel which had bits of movies which summed up my
short film and the situations that goes on in my short film all relate to
horror movies there is no friendly situations in my horror movie.
This will still be appropriate for the audience because there is no gore or
swearing on the short movie.

8. PRODUCTION
I used the insidious music to add horror to the sizzle reel I created because it’s a
preview of what will happen within the movie but for the actual movie I will be using
some spooky music to leave the viewer on edge.
On the scene there will be a TV and a chair there wont be a phone on the scene until
later on towards the end of the movie to make contact with the killer.
There will be dream sequences as well so maybe there will need to be a filter on the
top of the footage when it comes to the dream sequence this is because its set in a
different time and place and its not real so there will be a filter and there will be a
different type of music playing too.
The transitions that I will be using is probably a smooth jump cut transition because
waking from a dream it happens all of a sudden so it will be smooth and things will
slowly change and the filter applied will be normal but there will still be a filter with
some horror music over the top but at a low volume.
There is going to be text for the title of the film at the beginning maybe even a title sequence where it comes up
with credits and which job role someone was. For the end of the film there will be credits again but all coming
down the screen the intro credits are scattered across the screen like Halloweens title sequence.

9. POST-PRODUCTION
Development – I think this short film can develop into a featurette film because if its hosted
at film festivals people could take a look at it and the project could go further and have more
scenes.
Screening And Distribution – The short film would be on platforms like YouTube,
Vimeo, Film festivals maybe more for people to have a chance to watch it to see
what its like.
Legal And Ethical - This film does have copyright within it because there is a few
seconds from Psycho where strings happens as she is dying within the shower, I
would need to probably get some royalty free music for this scene, maybe even make
my own strings theme. The ethical issue with this film is the fact that it shows murder
it’s a very typical thing that happens everyday.

10. PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
This production would take around 3 days because there is
different sequences to be recorded and the editing would
probably take a week or two to get the recording together and
adding effects.
I would need to pay attention to the details shown as well and
make sure all the sequences fit together which could take a
couple of days.

The budget below is the kit and costs.

12. TARGET AUDIENCE
this short film would be for people aged 15 – 25 year olds because its
horror and there is a lot of tense stuff that happens within it. The socio
class I am aiming this for is probably C because its suitable for that age
rating and the group.
The 2nd target audience I am aiming this for is probably males because
it’s a short film that they would probably like the look of the main
protagonist has a lifestyle which males can relate to.

13. LOCATION
I would like the location to be
in some sort of hotel which has
reports of hauntings but Jev
didn't take any notice and there
was murders that happened in
there.
The interior will have a sofa
and a TV in front of the TV the
lighting setting will be dark
due to Jev watching a movie
and falling asleep on the sofa.
