2012-2013 Acting Manager Pediatric Daycare and Ambulatory Program: Victoria General Hospital;
performed the duties of the manager for a six month period.
2008-Present Pediatric Tertiary Acute Care Clinical Nurse Educator: Victoria General Hospital. Areas
of responsibility include a 25 bed acute care pediatric unit, 5 Bed Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit (PICU), 12 Bed Surgical Daycare and medical procedure unit and Pediatric
Ambulatory Programs (Diabetes, CF, Oncology, Cardiology and Neonatal Follow up
Clinic).
2008-Present Island Medical Program: University of Victoria.
Areas of responsibility include day to day leadership and mentorship to the Medical
Students and Residents as they rotate through Pediatrics. This is a collaborative team
building role with Physicians, University of Victoria Medical Program and Island Health
Staff.

• Assessing the current and future needs of the pediatric program areas with an interdisciplinary
approach by:
o Collecting data from Patient safety events, regional and provincial implementation
strategies, organizational initiatives, quality reviews, best practice changes
o Maintaining focus on the patients and families
o Working collaboratively with Island Health leadership, partners and staff
o Preparing briefing notes
• Designing programs and projects
o Through the quality process, identified a high risk in IV therapy delivery in children and
with the support of a project team purchased new pumps for regional pediatric
implementation, designed medication libraries, implemented education and facilitated
the change in practice across the island
o Planned and implemented a pediatric procedural sedation program
o Development and implementation of the role of the Clinical Nurse Educator as a partner
with the Island Medical Program though team building and supporting learning.
o Assessing and communicating the need for equipment, such as the Central Monitoring
system for Pediatrics, organizing and initiating the project with stakeholders
o Participation in an international research project for Bedside Pediatric Early Warning
System including education, implementation, support, ongoing evaluation
o Standardizing care with a regional focus through the Pediatric Focus Team in designing
guidelines and standards of care
o Preparing and delivering educational programs such as in-house pediatric ICU courses,
orientation of new staff, in-services and educational updates
o Establishing Telehealth/Telepicu within the Pediatric inpatient and outpatient programs
o Adapting the PRAM (Pediatric Respiratory Assessment Measurement) Tool for launch in
Island Health
o Implementation of the Patient View program in Pediatrics 2016
o Development of interdisciplinary simulation learning in pediatrics
• Implementation of goals
o Working within project charters, ability to lead and delegate, complete designated tasks
and honor timelines for delivery
o Involving and consulting stakeholders in design and implementation strategies
