2. Finally, your internal and
external business transactions
can be seamlessly automated
and integrated using the new
e-Business Connector Suite.
A basic premise of enabling e-business is an effective
integration
strategy – a complete “end-to-end” strategy. This approach
to integration leverages the high-quality information found in
enterprise systems and in the systems of outside services
and suppliers – and connects it to the many systems that
link to the extended enterprise.
What’s needed is an integration infrastructure that is agile.
An infrastructure that allows you to change and respond
quickly – readily establish “connections” with your partners,
customers, employees, and others who comprise the
extended enterprise.
An infrastructure that allows you to define and refine business
processes that lead to new business opportunities.
Business processes, for example, which allow suppliers to
be involved in the design and manufacturing process sooner.
Processes that make vendor-managed inventory a reality.
Processes that support virtual manufacturing or the virtual
enterprise.
It is here that Integration Technologies helps organizations
enable their business processes. We deliver complete, end-
to-end integration solutions through e-Business Connector
Suite, our powerful family of integration products; through
our expert consulting services; and through our extensive
business partner network.

3. Moving from concept to execution.
Until now, simply getting the business processes within your
organization to work together has presented a major challenge – let
alone trying to work with anyone else’s organization. But the demands
of e-business require an effective integration strategy. Making an
investment in an “end-to-end” integration solution today gives you the
agility to embrace a rapidly changing marketplace that indeed presents
a challenge – but at the same time presents great reward.
A simple order processing application provides an ideal example.
Traditionally, a customer service representative works with multiple
systems to expedite orders and respond to inquiries – a slow but rela-
tively straightforward process when safeguarded by the representative.
As these orders and inquiries transition to e-business methodologies,
the order process itself must become automated. The automation must
allow for differences in orders from different sources.
It must allow the organization to respond immediately – and respond
to an increasing set of demands. Customers not only demand to know
when an order was shipped – they want precise, granular information
– information that tells them where it was shipped from, by whom, and
exactly when it will arrive.
But not only the customer benefits. The organization itself benefits
from business processes that dramatically reduce the time to comple-
te transactions in some cases from days to minutes. But perhaps of
even greater importance, these business processes provide the agility
to seize new opportunities to compete more effectively in a business
environment that becomes more and more global with each passing
day.
Integration Technologies
provides robust e-business
infrastructures that give
companies the ability to
manage and profit from
change and become e-
businesses.
Whether you’re a brick-and-
mortar business looking to
take advantage of the Internet
for the first time, a dot-com
retailer that wants to expand
your marketshare, or a
cutting-edge commerce
intermediary that wants to
bring buyers and sellers
together, we can help you
succeed.
To do all this you need an infrastructure that’s powerful and reliable enough to help you take advantage of the
Internet today, and flexible and scalable enough to meet your needs as they increase over time. Only Integration
Technologies can provide an infrastructure that will enable you to do all the things you need to do to become
an e-business. Our products let you integrate, connect and extend your business so you can profit from
change.
4. Our e-Business Connector is based on an
innovative arch itecture, which allows the integration
of different business applications (distinct), such as
business packages, customized applications, and
e-business (electronic business) databanks and
applications.
As a result, these applications begin to perform real-
time information exchange, providing the business
with faster and more efficient operation, besides
using intranets and the Internet for conducting
electronic transactions internally with customers,
suppliers and business partners.
This new way of implementing business processes
between applications minimizes the need of
expensive customized programming.
In the e-Business Connector, integrated
applications exchange messages called events.
An event is capable of announcing the occurrence
of a business event, such as an “issued order” or
requiring a service, such as “retrieve Mr. X’s
current account”.
The software components that connect an
integrated application to the e-Business
Connector are called Adapters. An Adapter is
subscribed to the events related to its application
and translates them between the application
interface, or API, and the e-Business Connector
events. When the Adapter receives an event, it
activates the API for assuring that the application
does what the event says must be done.
The Adapter may also be activated by its own
applications, when it will publish an event, normally
a note announcing to the rest of the system that
something happened in that application – for
instance, a note informing that an order was
issued.
Adapters do not communicate directly between
themselves. Instead, they forward and receive
events to and from an Information Manager, which
is the core of the e-Business Connector, called
IPS (Integration Process Server). As a matter of
fact, the IPS works as an operating system for
the events, and manages the queuing,
distribution, filtering, and all security checks.
Optimized for business process management, e-
Business Connector Suite provides industry
leading out-of-the-box functionality for modeling,
automating, monitoring long-lived, multi-step,
business processes within and across the
extended enterprise.
