Aug 2011- Present GANG UNIT
* Head of all Southern Alameda County Gang Prosecutions.
* Responsible for prosecuting gang crimes. Includes helping law enforcement in
investigations, charging cases, conducting preliminary hearings and trials.
* Train law enforcement and other D.A.’s on prosecuting gang cases.
• Have tried 9 gang cases. I successfully tried the following“high profile” murder
cases:
- Abraham Hade;
- Daniel Howard;
- Rafael Tovar;
- Daniela Guzman
- Joel Perry;
- Robert Yim.
* Successfully prosecuted the murder of 14-year-old Vernon Eddins and several
other “cold case” murders.

HEARING TEAM
* Responsible for conducting felony plea-bargain negotiations of South County
felony cases.
* Responsible for training team members on how to conduct preliminary hearings.
Jan. 2009- Dec. 2009 HAYWARD FELONY TRIAL TEAM
* Assigned complex criminal litigation cases, primarily homicides, and other
serious felonies.
* Prosecuted People v. Terry Corder, a homicide case in which a 2 year old child
was killed by his foster father. The victim was placed in the home on a temporary
basis, and was killed shortly before the grandparents were able to obtain custody.
May. 2008 – Dec. 2008 HAYWARD PRELIMINARY
HEARINGS
* Completed over 30 complex cases which were set for preliminary hearing.
Included homicides, sexual assaults, car jackings, and robberies.
Sept. 2004 – April 2008 OAKLAND FELONY TRIAL STAFF
* Tried 12 homicides. Usually assigned very tough and complex cases in which the
witnesses were not cooperative, and there were various issues with the case.
* Successfully tried the following “high profile” murder cases:
- Christopher Hollis
- Dwayne Washington
- Donald Jones
- Larry Ridge
Jan. 2004 – Sept. 2004 HAYWARD FELONY TRIAL STAFF
* Assigned complex criminal litigation cases, primarily homicides, and other
serious felonies.
* Tried People v. Jade Anderson, a homicide in which the female defendant was not
the actual killer, but had set up the victim to be robbed.
Apr. 2002- Dec. 2003 HEAD OF HAYWARD
MISDEMEANOR TRIAL TEAM
* Responsible for pre-trying misdemeanor cases in the Hayward Office. Includes
DUI’s, petty thefts, domestic violence, assault and battery, resisting arrest.
* Responsible for training new prosecutors how to conduct jury trials. Includes
case prep, case investigation, case assessment, and conducting pre-trial motions
and trials.
May. 2001 – Apr. 2002 HAYWARD PRELIMINARY HEARING
TEAM
* Conducted approximately 50 preliminary hearings for cases at the Hayward
Municipal Court. Cases arose out of Hayward, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Castro
Valley, or the East Bay Regional Parks.
Sept. 1999 - May 2001 OAKLAND FELONY TRIAL STAFF
* Tried eight complex and serious felonies.
* Successfully tried the case of People v. Keelon Jenkins and Robert McDaniels.
This was a re-trial of a death penalty case. The non-death convictions were
overturned on appeal. Both defendants were charged with attempting to rob a
Brinks truck. When the attempt went wrong, the victim was killed.
Feb. 1999- Aug. 2001 OAKLAND MISDEMEANOR TRIALS
* Tried multiple misdemeanor trials. Charges ranged from assault with a deadly
weapon, domestic violence, petty theft, stealing cars, and DUI.
* Responsible for misdemeanor motions to suppress, probation violation hearings,
and various other motions.
* Also conducted pre-trials of misdemeanor cases.
July 1998 – Feb. 1999 OAKLAND PRELIMINARY
HEARINGS
* Assigned complex criminal litigation preliminary hearings.
* Conducted approximately 100 preliminary hearings, primarily homicides, felony
assaults, robberies, sexual assaults.
Nov. 1997 – July 1998 BERKELEY PRELIMINARY
HEARINGS
* Conducted approximately 50 preliminary hearings of cases with various levels of
severity. Ranged from homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of
drugs for sale, to domestic violence.
May 1997 – Nov. 1997 BERKELEY MISDEMANOR TRIALS
* Tried one misdemeanor case of brandishing a gun.
* Responsible for misdemeanor motions to suppress, probation violation hearings,
and various other motions.
* Also conducted pre-trials of misdemeanor cases.
Dec. 1996 – Apr. 1997 HAYWARD MISDEMEANOR TRIALS
* Tried multiple misdemeanor trials. Charges ranged from assault with a deadly
weapon, DUI, petty theft.
