and run with new / latest technologies, and relish opportunities to further my knowledge and
skills.
I thrive in a team environment and find a way to work collaboratively with others regardless
of title or background. I value honesty, integrity, pragmatism and positivity in a team. I am
also comfortable working independently and have much experience operating as the sole
developer in a busy environment.
2. Perseverance is one of my core values. While most developers exhibit strong problem
solving and ‘can do’ complex tasks, I borrowed the phrase ‘will do’ as this helps me
overcome tricky obstacles and get the best result.

EMPLOYMENT
2014 (Apr) – 2015 (Jun)
Senior Software Engineer
Flexera Software (Melbourne)
Flexera Software is a multinational US based company producing an IT Asset Management product
for customers. The Melbourne based team focussed on producing a section of the product called
FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS). I was hired specifically for my strong grasp of data engineering in
SQL, and strong problem solving and analysis skills and my consultative and customer focused
approach to work.
Flexera’s product delivery cycle requires highly agile development, with a very strong focus on
quality and customer outcomes. I became highly proficient at consulting with and leading virtual
teams across different time zones to achieve delivery dates and quality measures, and successfully
met or renegotiated all target dates.
My strong focus on customer outcomes lead our Melbourne team to achieve improved useability for
customers, improved data quality in reporting features of the product and a simplified user interface.

Developer / Analyst
Australian Volunteers International (Melbourne)
AVI is a medium sized not for profit organisation based in Melbourne with offices around the world.
My role in the Business Services division had evolved since I started - my initial project involved
transitioning systems from outdated technologies onto the latest .NET and SQL Server platforms.
Service level improvements back to the geographically dispersed staff was achieved through the
improved infrastructure and transformed software systems. When AVI implemented a new website, I
worked closely with external developers to tightly integrate the Umbraco (.NET) site with AVI’s
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Taking operational ownership of this site, I
continually improved the functionality of the website, and further integrated and extended it to
provide other online services to AVI’s volunteering communities.
I was also responsible for servicing user requests and incidents via AVI’s ITIL Service Desk
application and used my consultative skills to analyse and remediate as required.
3. Highlighted Achievements:
Re-development of approximately 130 reports for business users to provide a simplified dataset
and reliable underlying data for user consumption.
Migration of custom CRM database between platforms while maintaining full data integrity and
path mapping.
Ported AVIs custom CRM, project managing 3rd party resources to deliver required business
outcomes. Alongside the Project Management work, I simultaneously worked with external
developers to tightly integrate AVI’s CRM with the corporate website delivering an eServices
component to the business.
AVI Website enhancements include ‘Friends of AVI’, ‘IIVN’ and ‘AVI Plus’ online forms which
integrate with the CRM. I delivered a Single Sign On solution across multiple websites for users
accessing these systems, providing a significant business service to the organisation and a better
user experience for all users of the sites.
Consulted business users and converted business requirements into developed products or
enhancements to existing custom CRM and AVI Website. I also improved integration with custom
finance systems between various other applications within the business.
Migrated an obsolete business application to newer technology significantly reducing the
workload of internal users and substantially increasing compliance with record retention policies
as a result. Provided improved advanced search and multi-record save functionality
Extended AVI’s CRM with new ‘Online Learning’ module, including automated enrolment and
notifications, and integrated with externally hosted Training website.
2007 (Apr) – 2008 (Dec)
Developer / Analyst (Internal Systems)
PK Business Advantage Melbourne (Formerly known as Invizage)
My role involved both software development and database administration of the custom all in one
Sales / Product / Finance and Managed Services information management system (IMS). My
experience in SDLC and consulting was extensively used in improvements to the system to comply
with ITIL principles. The custom built VBA Application had a SQL Server 2005 backend and some
web enabled (ASP.NET and ASP) screens. I delivered SQL SSRS Reports and maintained the
Access based sales quotes, purchase orders and invoicing reports. I modified the IMS application to
also work with a label printer for tracking inventory in the warehouse. Consulting with Senior
Management, I provided highly customized Excel pivot reports, which relied on the daily extraction
and aggregation of data using SQL Integration Services, which helped management improve
helpdesk services back to customers. Near the end of my tenure, I was responsible for setup and
configuration of a new database environment, and migration of data to a new replacement Helpdesk
system.
My responsibilities at Invizage/PKBA included:
Database administration such as backups, monitoring and maintenance of users and groups in
all systems.
System modifications as required by management. Created a workflow for internal software
changes to streamline and manage change request process to core system.
Consulting with Management and creating workflows for various processes which were used by
staff in their day to day operations. This in turn enabled the business to improve their processes
using these new workflows.
Analysis and documentation of the functionalist and processes within systems used at Invizage.
After Invizage was acquired by PKBA my analysis was then used to compare off the shelf
replacement systems to those already in place.
Migration of data from the Invizage core system to replacement system (CA Unicenter).
Migration done via transforming and cleansing data (designed a SQL Server Integration
4. Services package) to get data into the required format and importing the data using CA
Unicenter commands.
Migration of data from the Invizage core system to replacement system (Great Plains). Extract
transactional data from core systems as required.
2006 (Mar) – 2007 (Apr)
Software Consultant
DWS Advanced Business Solutions
Based in Melbourne, DWS is a Consulting Company which provides Business and Technology
services in both Private and Public sectors. As a Software Consultant I worked in client facing roles
responsible for database administration, data migration, report writing (SQL Server), web
(ASP.NET) or desktop application (Winforms) development. While at DWS. I completed accredited
training in SDLC, consulting and data modelling methodologies. I employed the appropriate methods
and tools to ensure the expectations of the client were met or exceeded.
Highlighted Projects include:
Provided DBA input in a large (20 developer) Application transformation / redevelopment project
in the Government sector. During the first phase of the $1M project, I was responsible for
documenting and implementation of a database migration script which was delivered using SQL
(2005) stored procedures. I also contributed heavily to the database architecture of the new
platform. The migration component involved importing and amalgamating large amounts of data
from a range of legacy sources into a complex relational database.
As the sole DBA in a large telemarketing company, I was initially responsible for managing
multiple SQL Server environments supporting custom developed software applications. While
fulfilling DBA duties, I delivered database environment documentation, and improved on the
daily checklist document provided to improve operational efficiency. Duties included responding
to requests from in-house software developers and business analysts, provisioning test and
sandbox environments using SQL Lightspeed and troubleshooting problems. Other
responsibilities included development of batch exports of data to be used by business analysts
in Excel pivot reporting to company Executives. I provided assistance to the IT Manager as
required to train a junior DBA. I mentored the new DBA on all aspects of the role, providing a
highly detailed handover manual.
I also served as a Consultant on many other client sites, applying technical, people and
business skills. On each occasion I quickly adapted to new systems, primarily ASP.NET, ASP
and Visual Basic with a Microsoft SQL backend. My duties required consulting with both the
clients’ technical and business teams to efficiently manage change requests, bug fixes and
improvements within applications. Working with internal stakeholders, I employed SDLC
methodology, gathering and documenting requirements, implementing, testing and deploying
changes.
Taking on the role of Analyst / DBA in a large Oracle / Unix data warehouse project in the
telecommunications sector, I bolstered my predominantly MSSQL TSQL experience with Oracle
PL/SQL language. My deliverables included performance tuning existing procedures,
documenting existing data mappings, and making changes and fixes to the mapped procedures
as required.
