1. SFC HOTIN’S BIOGRAPHY
SFC Hotin enlisted as an 11B on 15 Dec 1983 in the Delayed Entry Program and began Basic Training on
27 Mar 1984. Upon graduation he attended 3 weeks of Basic Airborne School and then was assigned to
Bravo Company 3Rd
Battalion 75Th
Infantry Ranger Regiment Fort Benning, GA. where graduated the
Ranger Indoctrination Program. After leaving the Ranger Battalion he was assigned to Bravo Company 2nd
Battalion 187th
Infantry Anti-Tank Platoon Fort Kobbe, Panama, where he was trained to use the 106mm
Recoilless Rifle, the Tow/Tow II and the Dragon. After one year of training in this Platoon he was
assigned to Bravo Company 1st
of the 508th
Airborne Infantry Battalion also at Fort Kobbe in 1985, where
he trained as an Airborne Infantryman. He then volunteered for O.J.T. as a Food Service Specialist and
was attached to HHC 1st
of the 508th
Infantry Battalion on and was awarded the 92G MOS. While attached
to HHC, SFC Hotin became the 1st
Cook and was promoted to SGT on 11 Jan 1988. After serving 4 years
of Active Duty SGT Hotin reenlisted in the Army Reserves and continued in his career as a Food Service
Sergeant for the next 10 years. On 24 Jul 1998 was the Honor Graduate for the 88M Phase II Course and
was awarded the MOS of 88M Motor Transport Operator and was then assigned to the 1378th
Logistical
Support Battalion 3rd
Bde 78th
Division Motor Pool at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area MA, as the
Vehicle Dispatcher and Drivers Training Instructor. On 31 Mar 2001 SSG Hotin was promoted to SFC and
on 18 Jun 2001 he was assigned to the 3rd
Bn 310th
Regt 3rd
Bde 78th
Div (TS) as an Observer Controller
Trainer. He was mobilized to Fort Drum, NY in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Noble Eagle and
Iraqi Freedom where his mission was to train Soldiers in Skill Level I Warrior Task Training by validating
Units prior to OCONUS deployments. As a result, over 6,000 Army Reserve Soldier’s were properly
trained in Conducting Advanced Quartering Parties, Conducting Tactical Road Marches, First Aid Tasks,
Reacting to IED’S, reacting to ambushes, reacting to a chemical attack, and Unit Defensive Operations. On
24 Aug 2003 SFC Hotin was released from Active Duty and assigned as an Instructor Writer to the 98th
Div
(IT) 9th
Bn (TC) 4th
Bde in Fairfield, CT. SFC Hotin was mobilized to Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom. As the sole senior enlisted advisor to an Iraqi Army Training Base Operations Center and Range
Control Operations Center, in an emerging Base Operations Headquarters located at Kirkush Military
Training Base, Iraq. He was responsible for overseeing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on 9
Ranges and 8 Training Areas. SFC Hotin trained two Iraqi Officers and one Iraqi Senior NCO in
establishing and implementing a Range Safety Officer Course, Standard Operating Procedures of an Iraqi
Range Control Operations Center and in the daily functions of an Iraqi Range Control Operations Center
which resulted in over 8,500 Iraqi Soldier’s having safe, organized and superb conditions in which to train.
Also, during SFC Hotin’s tour he was responsible for over
$500,000.00 in school renovations for Iraqi communities; to include coordinating with local authorities and
visits to contractor sites. On 08 Oct 2005 SFC Hotin returned from Active Duty to the 98th
Div as an
2. assistant Instructor for the 88M Phase I and II MOSQ Course. SFC Hotin graduated from the Instructor
Training Course in 2006 and was mobilized and assigned to the United States Army Transportation Center
Noncommissioned Officer Academy Fort Eustis, VA as an 88M Small Group Leader on 20 October 2007.
While assigned to the NCO Academy SFC Hotin to date has graduated more than 80 NCOs during BNCOC
Phase I and II. He is also the Information Management Officer and Systems Administrator for the NCO
Academy with the responsibility of maintaining more than 80 combined networked and stand- alone
computer systems. On 28 June 2010 I returned from Active Duty and was hired by the Federal
Government as an Information Technology Specialist and retired from the Army on 02 December 2010
with 23 1/2 years of service.
