Construction offers a range of services in conjunction with its sister companies EE&G
Restoration Services and EE&G Environmental Services to clients facing complex
engineering and environmental problems. EE&G Construction supports the use of
the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building certification
process to promote environmental awareness in the construction design and building
industry.
LEED was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and is a
certification process based on the use of a points system to assess the
environmental merits of a structure. The rating system differs between commercial
buildings, residential homes, schools, interior renovations, developments in
neighborhoods, and other construction projects.
There are typically four levels of LEED certification relevant to a project, depending
on how many points the project has accumulated. These levels include certified,
silver, gold, and platinum. The USGBC recognizes nine main areas that are
assessed by LEED, some of which include materials and resources, location and
linkages, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design, and
energy and atmosphere.
