We are called to be stewards of
Meaning in greek οἰκονόμος
oikonomos (oy-kon-om'-os) n.
1. a house-distributor (i.e. manager),
or overseer, i.e. an employee in that
capacity
2. (by extension) a fiscal agent
(treasurer)
3. (figuratively) a preacher (of the
Gospel)
Consideration " Lu 12:42; Tit 1:7; 1Pe 4:10
 The fidelity required of stewards seems to be
adverted to here, in order to show that the
apostles acted from a higher principle than a
desire to please man, or to be regarded as at the
head of a party; and they ought so to esteem
them as bound, like all stewards, to be faithful to
the Master whom they served.
 Eminently in that office fidelity is required as
an indispensable and cardinal virtue.
FAITHFUNESS is the main or leading thing in their
office.
Agency is rooted on the assumption that human
tendency of self-trust, pride in success, shadows
family, organizational goals/objectives
Decisions are made to just further their nests
Agency is when one person’s welfare depends on
what another does e. g. managers are agents of their
employers, church officers agents of the church /God
A steward is an agent with responsibilities in profit
/non-profit making organization
What is accountability?
Readings:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-9, 9:11[
Prov. 27:23-24[
Exodus 22:14[
Deuteronomy 22:1-24[
Exodus 23:3-5[
Sheep & shepherd relationship is prominent becoz Israel's economy had its lifeblood
from pastoral farming
Shepherding involved risks Num 27: 17, Ezek 34:1-, 1 sam 17:-, 2 sam 5:1-2[
Accountability is key in stewardship
Shepherds were accountable of sheep
to the owner and hired shephered

make haste decisions before
consulting owners
Agreements were made b/n parties
and surpluses for a job well done
were given
Success formular is human efforts
+divine power/wisdom =success
Stewardship is not only an individual responsibility but a

stray animals were to be returned to its legimate owner to
promote shalom or peace and economic prosperity
1 timothy 5:8[
Care /stewardship or management of communal risks such
as orphans and widows[ james
Carrying one another’s burden by individuals, families,

A plan & budget(what are these?)
Book of records[ ledgers, receipts, invoices, cash

What it is: it simply means having
other sources of income besides what
is already existing
This can also be termed as
diversification through identifying
new products and services to satisfy
demand On the market e.g. bakery
plus chibwantu, grocery &
restaurant, cattle rearing &
goats/sheep etc
A faithful steward must know that asset
acquisition is the ultimate goal
These may include land, infrastructure[
houses, shops etc] and liquid assets
Such as livestock, automobiles, cash etc
Liabilities are ornaments that needs the
owner’s attention for sustenance
E.g. cell phones, utility bills, transport,
business ventures etc
What it is: training others [ children, relatives, church members or general
public]
With necessary skills an knowledge or giving them capital resources
Pr 22:6
¶ Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not
depart from it.
Hebrew meaning hchanak (khaw-nak') verb
1. (properly) to narrow
2. (figuratively) to initiate or discipline on how to find, seek, work but not
how to “spend ‘’
Your acquired assets or estates must not go into
old age, and finally the grave with you
Pay attention to the Words from the wisest man
Ec 3:1
¶ For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
Ec 9:5
For the living know that they will die, but the dead don't
know anything, neither do they have any more a
reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
2Ki 20:1
¶ In those days was Hezekiah sick to
death. Isaiah the prophet the son of
Amoz came to him, and said to him,
Thus says Yahweh, Set your house in
order: for you shall die, and not live.
Death is eminent which is opposite of living jobs once
exclaimed…
He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb,
and naked shall I return there. Yahweh gave, and
Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of
Yahweh."Job 1:21
Ecl 5:19
Every man also to whom God has given riches and
wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to
take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour--this is
the gift of God.
What are we talking about here? Will writing ok!!
Gen. 25:5-6
Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac,
but to the sons of Abraham's concubines,
Abraham gave gifts. He sent them away
from Isaac his son, while he yet lived,
eastward, to the east country.
The best example is Abraham, Paul once
said…1Co 10:11
Now all these things happened to them by way of
example, and they were written for our admonition,
on whom the ends of the ages have come.
2Th 3:9
not because we don't
have the right, but to
make ourselves an
example to you, that
you should imitate
us.
1Ti 4:12
Let no man despise your
youth; but be an
example to those who
believe, in word, in your
way of life, in love, in
spirit, in faith, and in
purity.
God has promised holist prosperity to his children…Deuteronomy
