To Whom It May Concern:
I have been asked by Hanna Chusid, EdD. to write a letter of recommendation as part of her application for an
educator/teacher position. It is a pleasure to write this recommendation for Dr. Chusid. As Chairman of
Academic Programs at Ryokan College, I am responsible for the hiring and supervision of faculty. It was my
decision to have her join our faculty. She has taught Bereavement and Family Dynamics at Ryokan and has
been highly regarded by her students and the College administration.
Dr. Chusid has consistently utilized a strong knowledge base to actively engage students in the learning process.
As our entire graduate program (MA-MFT, PsyD) is taught via a synchronous, live, on-line platform, Dr. Chusid
has demonstrated effective use of the tools at her disposal (internet, library, video, audio, whiteboard, live-on
camera/microphone medium). Her attention to detail and the maintenance of high academic standards have
been noted across her classes.
I would like to note that Ryokan is a somewhat atypical college insofar as the evaluation process is a two-fold
process. While faculty provide a written evaluation of students, our students do the same for the faculty. The
evaluation instrument for students is composed of a multipart, Likert based scale assessment and narrative
section. I review the evaluations by all students and faculty members for the graduate program classes. This
review process is carried out by several other administrators as well, including review of video/audio class
archives. It is noteworthy that Dr. Chusid’s students have been both impressed by her acumen, satisfied with
her style of presentation, her availability, and her level of commitment to their education. Dr. Chusid’s
evaluations from students appear to have accurately reflected the high level of professionalism and knowledge
that she brought to her students.
Dr. Chusid is a mature, grounded individual who is clearly sensitive to her impact in the academic setting. Her
ability to clearly communicate often dense, emotionally sensitive or difficult material is also noteworthy,
especially as she has a solid understanding of her subject matter.
I can whole heartedly recommend Dr. Chusid as a conscientious, highly motivated clinician who would be an
asset to any teaching situation. I hope you will give active consideration to her application. If I may be of any
further assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
A. Scott Greer, Ph.D.
