Dear all,
This ppt contains the cause, clinical and radiological features, treatment and complication of fracture of the clavicle. I hope this is useful to you.
Thank you
4. Outer fragment
Displaces medially
and downwards
Because of pull of
pectoralis major
muscle
Inner fragment
Displaces upward
Because of pull of
sternocleidomastoid
muscle
5. Diagnosis
• History of trauma followed by pain, swelling
and crepitus
• Can be confirmed
on x-ray
• Also check for
neurovascular
deficit
6. Treatment
• Unites readily
• Immobilization is sufficient in triangular sling for
minimal displacement.
• A figure of 8 bandage can be applied in young
adult with a displaced fracture.
• Open reduction and internal fixation is required
– Severally displaced fracture
– Patient with neurovascular deficit
• Fracture is fixed with a plate or a nail
