Some unique places are there that would hypnotize anyone with it’s beauty. I have a
great interest in travelling and exploring unique places in India. It is difficult to imagine
that view until you have seen through your own eyes.
Here is the list of 10 Unique Places to Visit in India that took my mind and heart.
1. Living Root Bridges (Meghalaya)
Umshiang Double-Decker Root Bridge is made of some special type of rubber tree. It
took around 15-25 years to grow and become strong to hold humans weight on it. To
view this amazing place, you need to do trekking of 45km from Cherapunji. The Khasi
Tribe of Meghalaya built this bridge which is 2400 feet long and they are expert in
making these types of strong bridges.

A challenging route of an average of 2hr 22min to complete.
Located near deep down in a river valley next to the village of Nongriat.
6500 steps long trek.
Best Time to visit : November to March.
2. 2. Reverse Waterfall (Maharastra)
Water flowing upwards, quite a view that defies the law of gravity. The heavy flow of
wind blows the water up giving the perception of upward flowing water. It’s a unique
sight that makes this strange phenomenon happens. (Advice: Wear good trekking
shoes and don’t go near the rock edges.)

as Skeleton Lake or Mystery Lake. It lies in the lap of Trishul massif.

when he reached this lake he found that the lake was surrounded by 300 to 800 piles of
skeleton who met their tragic end.
It is also believed that those skeletons are of those people who went their in search of
magic mushrooms known as ‘ Keeda Jadi ‘ which have many incredible medicinal
properties. Apart from this the beautiful snow covered mountain with lake make athe

named as ‘ Keibul Lamjao National Park ‘. It has now became the most popular tourist
place as largest freshwater lake in Northeast India. The unique attraction of this lake is
it’s floating circular swamps, and is known as ‘Phumdis‘ in local language. An endemic
and endangered subspecies of Eld’s deer, named ‘ Sangai ‘ is located in this area.

One of the wettest place on earth as recorded in Guinness Book of World Records. It
receives the highest rainfall in India. The continuous rain with the clouds floating makes
the place more unique. The rain touching the lush green landscapes gives a
mesmerizing view.
The reason for such continuous and heavy rainfall is of the Bay of Bengal branch carries
more moisture to these areas causing heavy rainfall. When you reach to a certain height,
you can enjoy the caves, waterfalls, and, the flora magically taking your heart. The
unique stalagmite formations inside the cave is also so beautiful that will look like the
shape of Shivling.

5. 6. Lonar Crater (Maharastra)
A meteorite collision made this Lonar Crater also known by the name, Lonar Lake. It is
now recorded as National Geo-heritage Monument with saline and alkaline water and
also declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary for the conservation of lakes, animals and, plants.
It is a main attraction for scientists and travellers. This high velocity impact crater made
this lake. This crater was a volcanic crater, however this meteorite impact made this
crater a water body. The colour of the lake turned pink because of salt eating
‘ Haloarchaea ‘ microbes.

8. 10. Kodinhi (Kerala)
A place where most of the twins are born, about 400 pairs of twins are there in 2000
families. It’s strange that so many twins born in this village only. It is also known by
‘Gods Own Country of Twins‘. It also considered as the 4th largest area of having
maximum numbers of twins in Guinness Book of World Records.
Some researcher says that most of the twins are born here due to the local diet, which is
rich in yams and other foods that are said to increase the chances of conceiving twins.
Apart from this, the beauty of the village is so alluring that you won’t want to miss it.
