This document contains a production log for a student named Callum Deighton detailing his progress on an assignment for a BTec Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production in Games Design. Over several dates from November 2013 to June 2014, the student worked on tasks including game setting and research, character profiles, production planning, and creating digital graphics of a character and background using Adobe software. He updated the production log each week and completed a review of his work at the end of the assignment.

Date: 18/11/13
This week is when we started the assignment. During this week I finished HA3 – Task 1 – Game Setting And Research, as well as HA3 – Task 2 – Games
Ideas/Synopsis. For Task 1 I had to think of what genre I would use for my video game, why I chose it and what aspects of survival horror I was going to use for
my game. For Task 2 I made a mind map on expanding the survival horror aspects for my game and what traits I was going to use i.e. characters, enemies,
environments etc., also I made a synopsis for my game explaining what the game was about and what the players goal was.

On this week I finished HA3 – Task 3 – Character Profile and started HA3 – Task 4 – Planning. For Task 3 I had to make a profile for my character that provides
details such as his backstory, appearance, skills etc. For Task 4 I had to complete the Legal and Ethical Checklist that proves that the regional property is mine
and as well that it fulfils all the requirements that it needs to fill. Also I had to start and continue a schedule which would show what I had completed so far and

2. what I had planned to get completed in the future, I would update this schedule each week whilst working on this assignment.

For this week I started HA3 – Task 5 – Production. For this task I had to create a production log in which I would explain what I had done each week I worked on
the assignment. Also I started work on HA3 – Task 6 – Presentation, for this task I got some pictures took of me in various poses for a basis for my character.
Then I would go on Adobe Photoshop and make a template scene for my character by finding various pictures for my character and “combining” them to form a
background (for example I could get a destroyed city for the main background, then I could add some destroyed cars, broken objects etc. to add more detail to
the background if I need to make it more detailed.

For this week I continued working on Task 5 and Task 6, For Task 5 I kept updating what I worked on each week for the assignment and for Task 6 I started
designing my character on Adobe Illustrator by using the Pen Tool to draw over the various parts of my photo of me and changing the design and colour to

I continued working on Task 6; I began designing the background in a similar basis to how I designed my character in which I made multiple layers for the
background (walls, roof, lights etc.)

4. Date: 19/05/14
After a temporary leave from this assignment to work on other assignments, I returned to do some more work on Task 6 and on my character, I finished
designing what I had left of the background.

This week I finished Task 6. After finishing designing character I added the template to it and filled in the necessary details on the template, and then I finally
uploaded it.

5. Date: 19/06/14
This week I went back to Task 5 and finished updating what I did on all my weeks, I went back to and finished Task 4 and finished the Schedule, and I also
finished HA3 – Task 7 – Review, which is essentially a review of what and how I’ve done for this assignment.
