This document discusses distracted driving in India based on a national survey. It defines distracted driving as any non-driving activity that takes a driver's attention from the road, including using a phone, eating, drinking, or other distractions of a visual, manual, or cognitive nature. Nearly all crashes caused by distracted driving involve a combination of two or three types of distractions. Several major crashes are described where drivers using phones lost control of vehicles and crashed, resulting in multiple deaths.
