Testimonial: Re Debra Ward
Dear Sir/Madam
I have known Debra Ward for 5 months and have found her to be the most amazing
head teacher. She is a role model to the staff and children she worked with at Oasis
Academy Fir Vale. To this day, I constantly asked by the children at Oasis Academy
Fir Vale about Debra and how they wish, ‘Ms Ward comes back!’
I have found Debra to be honest, reliable conscientious, courteous and most
importantly, hardworking and peace- loving person to work with. From what I have
observed from Debra, teaching for her is a vocation. She is truly passionate about
children and doing the absolute best for them, regardless, indeed often in spite of,
circumstances. I have found the experiences she has had throughout her career has
served to embed this and to affirm her belief that every child is unique and special.
Her moral purpose is to bring out the best in every child.
It has been a pleasure and honour to work under the supervision of Debra Ward.
Debra not only understands and accommodates the needs of young children but she
also has the ability to inspire young children and her staff. Debra has done this
through inventive behaviour and reward ideas. For example, Debra came up with
the idea of introducing a learner’s code and each ‘theme’ was based on one of the
colours of the rainbow. Once a child achieved all of their seven cards, they would
get a wristband that had the colours of the rainbow. If a child did not follow to the
learner code then the rainbow band can also be taken of them and they can earn the
band back once the child has shown behaviour according to the learner
code/agreement.
This reward behaviour system proved success and the children were very eager to
learn and showed the staff at Oasis Academy Fir Vale that they are able to
work/learn according to the learner agreement.
I would recommend Debra to any educational establishment; she is an asset to any
organisation.
