Debra James Tucker is a University of Michigan Law graduate with experience using art for social justice causes. She has written and performed in productions focused on issues like homophobia, domestic violence, and identity. Tucker has also lectured on music history, facilitated arts workshops for underserved groups, and worked on legal and advocacy issues involving marriage equality, employment discrimination, and civil rights. She has extensive experience as a performer, teacher, and practicing lawyer focused on civil liberties.
