PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art 1995-Present
The Brandywine Conservancy is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization holding more than 458 conservation easements and
has protected more than 62,000 acres in Chester and Delaware counties, Pennsylvania, and in New Castle County,
Delaware. The Brandywine River Museum of Art is renowned for its holdings of the Wyeth family of artists, the Museum
features galleries dedicated to the work of N. C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. Annual operating budget for the
entire organization is in the $11 million range with an endowment in excess of $83 million.
Controller/Assistant Controller
• Compiles final annual budget in organized legible manner for implementation and monitoring. This process includes
interaction with both department heads to board of directors to include salary and multiple property considerations.
• Monitors budget by administering a linked companywide budget worksheet. Monthly analysis and quarterly meetings
with department heads to review details of budget vs. actual variances.
• Quarterly preparation and presentation of Board of Directors power point financial status.
• Quarterly group presentation of financials to entire staff for knowledge sharing.
• Supervise payroll and accounting staff.
• Analysis of monthly endowment investment reports in excess of $83M – both domestic and offshore hedge funds.
Reconcile and book all income, realized and unrealized gains and losses, and any incoming or outgoing transfers.
• Work directly on financial special projects as needed including;
• Managed Employee benefits contract 2015.
• Handles fiscal year to annual year accounting change 2015.
• Formal grant requests.
• Cultural Data Project.
• Actively reviewing new accounting software to keep systems up to date.
• Coordinate, communicate, and work with outside auditors each year to ensure a timely and efficient audit report.
• File all quarterly & annual payroll tax filings, annual form 990 (Tax Return for Charitable Organization) and annual
Pennsylvania State tax return.
• Maintain schedule of all Conservancy fixed assets and depreciation.
• Maintain the general ledger and all account analysis on a monthly basis, from journal entry preparation and input thru
financial statement preparation and review. Include preparation and presentation of annual and monthly cash
forecasting.
