- 4. Why Docker for Web Development Benefits of containerisation on your dev machine Benefit from more resources on your machine (vs VMs) Locally build/test more often with more (E.G. All supported PHP)
- 5. Lando Native Docker (E.G. Docker for Mac) Developed by Tandem Based on recipes Drupal/Wordpress (CMS) Laravel (Framework) Base Languages (Go/Ruby)
- 6. Lando Add on services, workflow options for CI/BDD etc Config all provided by YAML All stored in `.lando.yml` Custom commands in YAML Beta (But stable)
- 7. Docksal VM based approach (Mac/Windows) Created by FFW More heavily Drupal focused, but extensible to most langs/frameworks Uses `.docksal` directory
- 8. Docksal Configuration combination of yml and shell Local adjustments - in a way that Lando doesn’t Custom commands in shell Stable (Out of beta)

- 13. Lando disadvantages Less “all” friendly (Errors on custom domains such as .docksal) Slow compared with Docksal (Potentially High Sierra, not Lando) Upgrade path is janky It’s beta.
- 14. Docksal disadvantages VM based on Windows/Mac (Weight) Slow to update (Still no official PHP 7.1) It’s focus is Drupal/Wordpress
- 15. Conclusion Putting more effort into Lando, it feels better. Using Docksal for work (The client’s choice, shared project with FFW) Keep an eye on both, try both. No overall winner.
