Personal Statement
I am a junior temporary works designer, who 4 years ago graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelors
of Engineering. During my studies in the University of Glasgow, I was regularly required to problem solve. This taught
me to apply a variety of strategies in my approach to a problem. I also completed various group tasks that involved
engineers, architects and quantity surveyors from other schools. I also completed an individual thesis.
Since then I have worked for Petrofac and RDG Engineering. At Petrofac I was a graduate field engineer on the
Laggan Tormore project, a £500 million contract to construct a gas plant in the Shetland Isles for Total. I now work at
RDG Engineering as a junior temporary works designer, tasked with the design of temporary works. This design
includes the production of engineering drawings and calculations. These jobs have increased my experience in the
industry. They have also given me the knowledge to produce temporary works designs in a logical and methodical
way.
I am a proven hardworking and confident individual looking to further my career as an engineer within the
petrochemical industry, with an ultimate goal of working overseas.
