HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 am 5:30 pm (7 1/2 hours/day)
Summary
Direct a professional staff that will be monitoring and establishing new safety programs and their
implementation across all agencies. Lead transformational initiatives that will establish the
framework for safety management across the MTA. This position will be responsible for the
implementation of an SMS (Safety Management System) throughout the MTA, as well as other
innovative programs to achieve overall safety management and monitor their progress through the
review of audits and analytical reports.
Responsibilities
o Develop and implement new contracts to support the newly created Safety Management Office and
program implementation MTAwide
o Create strategies for new initiative implementation across all agencies.
o Coordinate with Agency Safety and Operating Departments on strategies for implementation of
new initiatives/programs.
o Responsible for implementing a cohesive safety management system throughout the MTA.
o Communicate with various MTA Departments and agencies on matters relating to project/program
status and reporting.
o Establish project milestones and ensure compliance with deadlines.
Qualifications
o Must possess expertise in leading edge Safety Management Systems.
o Must be familiar with regulatory process, developing and implementing changes to the process.
o Must possess the ability to build strong partnerships, engage, influence and drive change.
o Strong project management skills (the ability to document and communicate project plans, monitor
work in progress, achieve project milestones/end results, for others to understand).
o Strong business process design skills and experience.
o Excellent oral and written communication skills.
o Knowledge of project management software (project solve or other similar program).
o Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
Education and Experience
o Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in business, planning, project administration, or other related
field or equivalent work experience.
o 10 years of experience in project/program management or managing a team of project/program
management personnel.
