DIRECTORATE OF INTELLIGENCE (DI)
Help produce timely, accurate and unbiased reports
based on information from human sources, satellite
photography, the military and a variety of other sources
and methods.

NATIONAL CLANDESTINE SERVICE (NCS)
The NCS coordinates clandestine activities to collect
information that is not obtainable through other means.
Majors:The NCS hires from a broad range of academic
and work backgrounds. Foreign language skills and
international travel are a plus.

 TECHNOLOGY (DST)
Apply innovative technical, scientific and engineering
solutions to the most critical intelligence problems.
Continually push the boundaries of cutting-edge
technologies to fulfill the CIA’s mission.

DST, from computer programmers and engineers to

NATIONAL CLANDESTINE
SERVICE UNDERGRADUATE

Applications are accepted year round. Applications for summer employment will be accepted until October 15th. Applications
for winter, spring and fall employment should be sent 9 to 12 months before your desired start date.
The application deadline for the National Clandestine Service Undergraduate Internship varies. Please visit www.cia.gov for

COLLEGE
STUDENT
Student employees receive:
•	Salary and benefits consistent with private sector and full-time CIA employees
•	Paid transportation costs between your school of record and theWashington, DC area for each work tour
•	Security clearance
•	Real work experience as an Intelligence Officer
•	Assistance finding housing
HOUSING  TRANSPORTATION
Students are responsible for their own housing and
transportation while in theWashington, DC area. Student
Programs does provide complimentary assistance for
identifying housing options, including corporate housing
and room rental from Agency employees. Students may
also pursue their own housing arrangements.
TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS
Travel costs between your school and the Washington,
DC area are reimbursed. Students are not reimbursed
for the cost of the daily commute to work. Public transit
and carpool options are available and widely used.
TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Tuition assistance may be available for CIA interns who
receive an offer letter for full-time employment after
completing their degrees. Qualifying Undergraduate
Internship and Graduate Studies Programs students
will receive up to $5,000 for their final year of study.
Students who accept the tuition assistance must sign
a “Letter of Intent” to return to the Agency as a staff
employee for a one-year period for each program in
which assistance is accepted.
SALARIES
Salaries are paid according to the work tour and the
type of degree. As a student completes a work tour,
the pay is adjusted accordingly.
EXCLUSIVELY FOR HIGH-QUALITY

General Requirements:
•	US citizenship
•	Must have a competitive GPA; preference is for
a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
•	Successfully complete medical examinations and
security procedures, including a polygraph interview
•	Must be available for work tours in the Washington,
DC area
Drug Use and Illegal Downloading
Drug use and illegal downloading are two common
reasons applicants are denied a security clearance,
and you cannot work at the CIA without a security
clearance.To be considered suitable for Agency
employment, applicants must generally not have used
illegal drugs within the past 12 months. Illegal drug
use and illegal downloading, use, distribution or sale
of songs, games, software and other electronic files
will be carefully evaluated during security processing.

UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
A traditional internship experience that is anything but
ordinary. Students work during summer breaks in fields
related to their majors.
Eligible Students:
•	College students currently enrolled full-time in an
undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
•	Can complete two 60- to 90-day internships before
graduating
UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT
CO-OP PROGRAM
This program targets students currently enrolled in
schools with co-operative programs and is designed
to help students meet the co-op requirements.
Eligible Students:
•	College students currently enrolled full-time in an
undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
•	College students who can work prior to graduation on:
o	An alternating semester or quarterly basis	
o	A minimum of three semesters or four quarters
(can include a summer work tour)
GRADUATE STUDIES PROGRAM
This program is available for full-time students who will
be entering either their first or second year of graduate
studies or those students who are pursuing their
doctoral degree full-time.
Eligible Students:
•	Students entering their first or second year of an
accredited graduate program
•	 Full-time post-graduate students enrolled in an
	 accredited doctoral program
•	All must have the ability to complete two 60- to 90-day
internships before graduating
Applications are accepted year round. Applications for summer
employment will be accepted until October 15th. Applications
for winter, spring and fall employment should be sent 9 to 12
months before your desired start date.
NATIONAL CLANDESTINE SERVICE
UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
This program offers a limited number of talented
undergraduate students the opportunity to support the
covert arm of the CIA as they collect human intelligence.
Eligible Students:
•	College students currently enrolled full-time in an
undergraduate program at an accredited college or university
•	Have completed one semester of undergraduate study
at the time of application and will continue school on
a full-time basis until graduation
•	Must complete two 90-day summer internships at CIA
Headquarters (between sophomore and junior years,
and between junior and senior years)
•	Must meet the prerequisites for the NCS Professional
Trainee Program post-graduation (between the ages of 21-25)
The application deadline for the National Clandestine Service
Undergraduate Internship varies. Please visit www.cia.gov for
current dates and information.
UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM
This program provides up to $18,000 per year for tuition
and mandatory fees, books and supplies, in addition to
an annual salary and full-time benefits while you are
completing your degree.
Eligible Students:
•	High school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores
•	Must be 18 no later than April 1 of the year you would
enter into the program
•	High school seniors must score at least 1500 on SAT
or 21 on ACT
•	College freshmen and sophomores must currently be
enrolled in an accredited college or university
•	Must maintain a competitive GPA; preference is for
a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
•	Maximum annual income for a family of 4 or less is
$70,000 and for a family of 5 or more the maximum
annual income is $80,000
•	Availability to work in the Washington, DC area
each summer
•	Agree to work for the CIA for 1.5 years for every year
of sponsorship

Student employees receive: • Salary and benefits consistent with private sector and full-time CIA employees • Paid transportation costs between your school of record and theWashington, DC area for each work tour • Security clearance • Real work experience as an Intelligence Officer • Assistance finding housing HOUSING TRANSPORTATION Students are responsible for their own housing and transportation while in theWashington, DC area. Student Programs does provide complimentary assistance for identifying housing options, including corporate housing and room rental from Agency employees. Students may also pursue their own housing arrangements. TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENTS Travel costs between your school and the Washington, DC area are reimbursed. Students are not reimbursed for the cost of the daily commute to work. Public transit and carpool options are available and widely used. TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Tuition assistance may be available for CIA interns who receive an offer letter for full-time employment after completing their degrees. Qualifying Undergraduate Internship and Graduate Studies Programs students will receive up to $5,000 for their final year of study. Students who accept the tuition assistance must sign a “Letter of Intent” to return to the Agency as a staff employee for a one-year period for each program in which assistance is accepted. SALARIES Salaries are paid according to the work tour and the type of degree. As a student completes a work tour, the pay is adjusted accordingly. EXCLUSIVELY FOR HIGH-QUALITY STUDENT CITIZENS General Requirements: • US citizenship • Must have a competitive GPA; preference is for a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale • Successfully complete medical examinations and security procedures, including a polygraph interview • Must be available for work tours in the Washington, DC area Drug Use and Illegal Downloading Drug use and illegal downloading are two common reasons applicants are denied a security clearance, and you cannot work at the CIA without a security clearance.To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the past 12 months. Illegal drug use and illegal downloading, use, distribution or sale of songs, games, software and other electronic files will be carefully evaluated during security processing. STUDENT PROGRAMS BENEFITS UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM A traditional internship experience that is anything but ordinary. Students work during summer breaks in fields related to their majors. Eligible Students: • College students currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university • Can complete two 60- to 90-day internships before graduating UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT CO-OP PROGRAM This program targets students currently enrolled in schools with co-operative programs and is designed to help students meet the co-op requirements. Eligible Students: • College students currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university • College students who can work prior to graduation on: o An alternating semester or quarterly basis o A minimum of three semesters or four quarters (can include a summer work tour) GRADUATE STUDIES PROGRAM This program is available for full-time students who will be entering either their first or second year of graduate studies or those students who are pursuing their doctoral degree full-time. Eligible Students: • Students entering their first or second year of an accredited graduate program • Full-time post-graduate students enrolled in an accredited doctoral program • All must have the ability to complete two 60- to 90-day internships before graduating Applications are accepted year round. Eligible Students: • High school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores • Must be 18 no later than April 1 of the year you would enter into the program • High school seniors must score at least 1500 on SAT or 21 on ACT • College freshmen and sophomores must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university • Must maintain a competitive GPA; preference is for a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale • Maximum annual income for a family of 4 or less is $70,000 and for a family of 5 or more the maximum annual income is $80,000 • Availability to work in the Washington, DC area each summer • Agree to work for the CIA for 1.5 years for every year of sponsorship Applications are accepted year round.
