REFERENCE LETTER FOR MS DARIYA ORDANOVICH
To whom it may concern,
as supervisor it is a pleasure for me to write this letter to support the application of Ms
Dariya Ordanovich. I worked together with her during her internship in our department which was
performed from 1st
July untill 26th
August 2011 within the framework of the exchange program of
International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE).
I supervised her research work as a member of the Research Group of Prof. Dr. Bruno Glaser
through the 8 weeks of her intensive research internship.
On the one hand, her internship focused on the investigation of the carbon sequestration potential
of soil samples amended with biochar and compost by analysing the stable fraction of carbon using
benzenecarboxylic acids as specific molecular markers. In this connection, she applied several
analytical methods and techniques in the laboratory including weighting, hydrolysis, oxidation and
filtration of soil samples as well as data determination with the help of a UV-VIS photo
spectrometer. Furthermore, she was also involved in the pre-treatment of soil samples by drying,
screening and grinding them using a vibration disk mill.
On the other hand, she participated in practical field research work with great commitment and
resilience. During the field work, she has assisted in the set-up and marking of the experimental
plots as well as in sampling of organic soil samples of a peatland and the data collection of plant
heights.
Ms Dariya Ordanovich proved herself to be very interested in learning and assimilating new
techniques and theoretical knowledge. Furthermore, she can be characterized by a discrete and
responsible working attitude. Therefore, I feel thankful for her cooperative assistance and great
contribution to our research during her internship. It has been a pleasure to work with her and I
warmly recommend her application for this position.
Yours faithfully,
…………………………….
