1. To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is my personal recommendation for Darcy Misson. I had the privilege of
meeting Darcy in the Fall of 2013, when he was positioned as a Technician on a 10MW
solar project in Alfred, Ontario. As active Project Quality Control Manager on site, I had
just been promoted and was adjusting to the new tasks and responsibilities. With the
arrival of Darcy in the Quality Control department, I was able to easily transition into my
new role due to the overwhelming knowledge and work experience he was able to
contribute.
During our shared work experience, Darcy was responsible for a majority of the field
inspections and had even developed a color-coded flagging system to easily identify
discrepancies and their locations on site. This system proved to be beneficial as all
departments (Quality Control, Production, and Safety) were able to understand the
different flags- if not, the importance, and would notify a supervisor prior to commencing
a task. Throughout the project Darcy had been the main field technician, understood the
receiving process (material and equipment) and played the position of logistics/receiver
before the need to hire someone specifically for that task. Darcy would also take it upon
himself to learn the managerial documentation during rained out days, and I would find
him in the office browsing through the various binders that housed all of the project’s
documentation. Through his actions, Darcy had exceeded all expectations and had proved
to be an enormous asset throughout the project, but none more so than when he
coordinated the post remediation task. For posts that were not within tolerance (per
engineered drawing), Darcy was responsible for coordinating with several electricians
and operators in order to adjust the affected posts and place them back within tolerance.
This task entailed coordinating with groups of workers in various trades in order to
remediate the issues. With his knowledge and experience with rigging equipment, Darcy
was responsible (and successful) for setting the equipment up with the proper material
and correcting the issues. The project was successfully completed in the winter of 2013,
and an enormous amount of credit is owed to Darcy for the work he did.
In closing, I would like to say that I believe Darcy would be an outstanding addition to
any project, staff, and company. Given the opportunity, I would be eager and willing to
work with Darcy again. Should you have any questions or require further perspective,
please feel free to contact me.
