Hillis-Carnes Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake
1. Hillis-Carnes Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake
Off the Jobsite, Out of the Office and Into the Community
Four members of Hillis-Carnes recently joined members of Duke Realty in Baltimore to volunteer with
Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that
strives to rebuild communities and transform lives. Habitat for Humanity brings people together to
build and renovate homes and provide low-income families with hope by putting faith into action.
For the past 30+ years, this organization has partnered with volunteers, donors, families, businesses
and organizations, providing more than 360 low-income families with decent and affordable housing.
Hillis-Carnes was grateful to have been
part of such an amazing yet eye-
opening experience. On April 11th
,
volunteers participated in activities
such as landscaping, painting, concrete
work, and fencing. Our HCEA volunteers
enjoyed taking time away from the
office and spending a day out in the
community and volunteering for such a
wonderful cause. Not only did we have
the opportunity to help rebuild a
struggling community, but we took a lot
away from this experience as well. We
often take for granted the ability we
have to go to a place we call home
every day after work, so having a hand
in the building and renovating process to
help others say the same, was gratifying.
We are really looking forward to our next Habitat for Humanity volunteer event and encourage
others to get involved in their local communities as well. Many individuals don’t realize that it is
often volunteers who are the glue that hold communities together, so why not get out there and help
make a difference too!
