To the American Red Cross, a volunteer is someone who sees a need in his or her community and is willing to share time, expertise, and even emotional support to help meed that need. In the right setting, this volunteer is rewarded for their work with a sense of great satisfaction.

Many volunteers have found that the American Red Cross is just the right setting for them to use their talents and show compassion to people who so desperately need it. The Red Cross depends on volunteers, who constitute 97 percent of our total work force, to carry on our humanitarian work.

Our vital work is made possible by people 
like you, community members who are 
dedicated to making the world a better place. 
Red Cross “Everyday Heros” come from all 
walks of life, from all age groups. Everyone 
has something special to offer... including 
you. 
Nationally, the American Red Cross provides 
services to thousands of American every day. 
• Coin Sort: Sorting coins which are 
used to fund disaster relief services 
VOLUNTEER 
OPPORTUNITIES 
• Mass Care: Providing shelters, feed 
people and distripution of bulk supplies 
• Disaster Assesment: Collecting, 
analyzing and disseminating 
information for the Red Cross 
• Family Services: Conducting 
interviews of disaster clients and 
providing sevices based upon clients’ 
needs and disaster assessment

OPPORTUNITIES 
• Every year, the Red Cross is there for 
hurricane, earthquake and other disaster 
victims - including 150 families forced 
from their homes by fire every day. 
• 175,000 volunteers worked to prevent, 
prepare for and respond to nearly 64,000 
disaster incidents last year. 
• Over 15 million Americans come to us 
to learn First Aid, CPR, swimming and 
other health and saftey skills. Last year, 
more than 23,000 people volunteered to 
teach those courses. 
• Over 24,000 volunteers serve as chairs, 
members of boards of directors, or on 
advisory boards for local Red Cross units 
- chapters and military stations. 
• As part of the International Red Cross 
Movement, we work to ease human 
suffering on a global scale.

• Special Events: Assisting in 
coordination of special events 
• Speakers Bureau: Attending Red 
Cross and Community Functions 
• General Office Help: Handling 
donation calls, filing, data entry, etc. 
• Education: Teaching first aid and CPR 
classes as well as representing your 
Chapter at Health and Safety Expos.
